This is a small town, compact, quiet and handily placed just off the A1. It is ideally situated between the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors and the facilities of York. There are a range of places to eat and drink, most within a short walk of each other.

It was only a short journey from the motorway.
It was only a short journey from the motorway. The Grantham Aims s located by a roundabout .On the other side of he road is the Ure river which has a beautiful waterfall.. There wasn't a great deal of road noise, despite the closeness of the road. We didn't explore the area as we were on route to Scotland, it only took 10mins to join the North bound A1.

We stopped here just to break our journey to Hadrians Wall.
We stopped here just to break our journey to Hadrians Wall. We wouldn't have been here otherwise, but it proved a very good stopping off point and a pleasant place to relax in. We bought provisions for our self-catering stay at Appleby's pork butchers and food for the journey/lunch when we got to our holiday cottage. The individual pork pies with black pudding were excellent. They do the best savoury duck I've ever had - at 85p this is a bargain and feeds two (look up savoury duck if you're not a Northerner - it's like a small haslet - do you need to look that up too? - sort of pate combined with a haggis best describes it.) We had really good lamb chops from them and smoked bacon. Called in again on our return. Lots of cafes in Boroughbridge - one in particular caters for cyclists and uses bike parts in its decor and does good value food to eat in or take away. We had a drink at the Black Bull, a classic old-style pub. It was very quiet when we were there (late Thursday evening) but very welcoming. Their summer pale ale was a lovely bright refreshing drink.
Walk between Boroughbridge and Aldeburgh takes about 15 minutes and there is a pleasant pub serving a range of beers including Theakstons. The Theakstones light was a bit lifeless compared with more modern craft beers, but OK. The Roman Town is at Aldeburgh, well signposted but only open Frday, Saturday and Sunday.
Check out the two charity shops too, and the shop selling real brushes and brooms and metal dustpans, and coir doormats. There is also an excellent hardware shop with just about everything you might need (we bought some coat hooks)
We stayed at the Crown - comfortable, good value, recently refurbished in witty luxurious style. Good food and helpful staff.
Perfect location for a stopover off the A1, and Boroughbridge is pleasant town with good historical interests.
Clean spacious room, comfy bed with quality linen and very quiet for a decent night's sleep.
Our room was at the back of the pub with access without going through the pub.
The evening meal was excellent and the pub had a good atmosphere and was warm and welcoming .
Cannot vouch for breakfast as we didn't eat there.
The staff were great , especially Joe who welcomed us and Katie who was our waitress in the evening.
Rooms was fantastic extra comfortable / Yorkshire themed . Great location in picture postcard small town village .
Lots of little extras in there Yorkshire cushions decor ect someone made a real effort to make the room appealing for guests . Even the kettle was a top quality kettle .
I would describe hotel as traditional hotel pub restaurant in one . Had meals and that too was good value in traditional surroundings .
Menu was great choice and food fantastic
All staff was great .
Parking available on site.
The location is good, minutes from the A1(M), few minutes walking distance into Boroughbridge, with shops. Also, a few hundred yards from 'The Devil's arrows', three prehistoric standing stones, one higher than any at Stonehenge. Contactless key arrangements, plus arrangement for you to have milk delivery and so on makes it easy. The flat is on the first floor, with large kitchen/diner, bedroom and bathroom, with a 'snug' sofa/tv room in the eaves up a flight of stairs.
Simply superb apartment, tastefully decorated, extremely well laid-out, quiet and also sparkling clean. Parking is secure and convenient. Lots of touches to make you feel at home, including fluffy towels, comfy pillows, throws and thoughtful amenities such as coffee, tea, milk and toiletries are provided. Boroughbridge is conveniently situated for visiting many local attractions and is a charming town with some nice shops and restaurants. We would return in a heartbeat!
One of the best rooms we've stayed in. It was large with a separate bathroom (great shower), huge comfortable bed and lots of thoughtful touches. We only stayed one night but would have liked to stay longer. Didn't get to try the restaurant, or the breakfast, but the food looked good and it was very busy. Great location: only a short stroll over the bridge and you are in the centre of Boroughbridge. The young staff were lovely, polite and helpful.
This hotel is lovely. I'd say a mix of old and new style in a lovely location
I enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi facilities. Room was lovely and got a bath as requested. Beds were comfortable. Had a choice of 2 cooked vegan breakfasts but
Only thing would be to have more vegan selection in an evening as I didn't eat in the restaurant. I would definitely stay again if going to that area.
2nd time we'd stayed here.
The accommodation had all we needed for our stay, a big fridge, oven microwave etc. Oh, and its lovely and warm.
We were provided with huge bath sheets, which was fantastic.
There is a parking space
It's only a short walk into Boroughbridge and all its amenities.
Good location and very nice staff. Food very good . Lovely , spacious ground floor areas . Well staffed. Nice breakfast. Rooms look to have been recently refurbished and were very comfortable. A very nice hotel . Would certainly return if visiting the area again.
Very friendly staff, beautiful and clean throughout the hotel. Great extra touches of books and games in room and through the hotel. Excellent food evening and breakfast. Bed comfortable, shower great and all toiletries included
Lovely hotel. Character rooms, super comfy bed, friendly staff, delicious dinner and awesome choice of breakfast from full english to Eggas Royale which was better and better value than Premier Inn.
Lovely staff. Brilliant breakfast. The room was a little small but as we only use hotels as a base and don't spend a lot of time in the room we managed. Swimming pool and facilities very good.
Staff were very friendly and the standard of the rooms were fantastic for the price. Very clean everywhere and the breakfast was of a high standard. Dog friendly.
Great value for money. Well equipped room of a decent size with en suite.
Excellent breakfast and service. Ample parking easy to find close to Boroughbridge.
