Our experience at Fra i Sassi was absolutely unforgettable. Our room was beautiful and full of character — the bathroom was set directly in the cave, which gave it such a unique and authentic touch. One of the highlights was definitely the view: right from our window we had a breathtaking panorama of Matera, perfect at any time of day. The location couldn’t have been better. We had no issues at all with our luggage, and the direct shuttle to the hotel made arrival super easy. Once there, we were within walking distance of everything — it’s perfectly situated to explore the Sassi and the historic center. What really made the difference was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful. They gave us excellent recommendations for food and activities, helped with reservations, and made us feel completely at home. A big plus for us: we were traveling with our dog and everything went smoothly. And breakfast? Just as amazing as everything else — fresh, local, and delicious. Highly recommend staying here if you want the full Matera experience with comfort, charm, and warm hospitality

Hotel Martino offers stunning views over the Policastro Gulf, a heated indoor pool, and free lobby Wi-Fi. The seaside and the private beach are a 10 minute's walk away. Parking is free. Peaceful location, beautiful sunset view, clean and spacious room, friendly and competent stafff, excellent restaurant în proximity, large parking place. For me, perfect!

Our room was very clean and well-equipped, with a nice balcony overlooking the farm. Probably the best part of our stay was the breakfast, with everything fresh and eggs from the farm. The host is amazing. We stayed here and visited Matera for the whole day. We could only stay one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer.

Breakfast was wonderful!!!! The lovely owners run a bakey/patisserie so we could have a delicious variety of foods for breakfast. The hotel has also a pizzeria, where we had dinner, and it was just delicious. On top of this, everyone was most welcoming and helpful

Property had an elevator to save us having to lug our heavy luggage up the stairs. Sumptuous breakfast. Roof top had nice view of Duomo tower. Owner manager Paolo was pleasant and very helpful - his restaurant suggestions were excellent. When our booking for a tour was misplaced, he cycled down to the tour agency to help us resolve it.
