Matera is a very challenging place to park, but we got great advanced information and a very convenient shuttle. The cave room is perfection. It is large and comfortable with a front patio area that contains a small table and chairs to admire the incredible view.

Hotel Martino offers stunning views over the Policastro Gulf, a heated indoor pool, and free lobby Wi-Fi. The seaside and the private beach are a 10 minute's walk away. Parking is free. The most beautiful view from the window of the hotel we stayed at, as well as the wonderful staff who made our honeymoon so special ❤️

Vetera Matera is an absolute gem and one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by the incredible care and attention to detail that has gone into restoring this historic property. The way they’ve blended the charm and heritage of the old building with elegant, modern interiors and thoughtful design is simply stunning. Every corner feels special, and it’s the kind of place where you just want to sit, take it all in, and enjoy the magical ambience. The location is perfect for exploring Matera, and the valet service made everything effortless. We left our car at their partner parking and were picked up directly, which made the whole arrival experience smooth and stress-free. Even though the hotel is relatively new, it feels like it has been welcoming guests for many years. That is a true credit to the management and the entire team, who were warm, professional, and made us feel so well looked after. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious, and the whole atmosphere was romantic and unforgettable. Relais & Châteaux should be very proud to have Vetera Matera in their collection. We are already looking forward to coming back and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Amazing!!!! less than 10 minutes walk from the very center of Matera (and what a city!!!!! ) in a quite área, the facilities are just amazing. I do not know who were the architect but turning the place in a comfortable, amazingly beautiful place is something. Pietro, our host, was not only a host. Great room in a lovely house. Breakfast was served in a bakery 50m from the hotel. Great and generous breakfast. The staff was great and helpful. One of the best hotels in this Italy trip. I would stay there again.

Location at the edge of old town. Very easy to walk to all the rock churches and other sights. Staff was very nice. Liked the breakfast. And even getting water bottles on the go when we left place.

The rooftop terrace was the perfect spot to enjoy an aperitivo at sunset. Highly recommended, truly top-notch.
