No breakfast served. Had hospital apt and only had 5 mins from hotel to get there. Staff friendly, comfy beds, access to fridge and micro, Early check out allowed cards to be left in room. Hours 7.00am to 10pm but instructions clear for outfits those hours. Would stay again.

Nice rooms, liquor store on site, and close to downtown. The staff were helpful and let us park our motorcycles in front of the lobby doors so that there were an extra set of eyes.

Love the Fruitvale area.
Love the Fruitvale area. Beautiful small town with friendly people. Very safe and quiet location. The air and water are great. A really nice place to visit. Have to get back this winter to check out the two nearby ski hills. The golfing was fantastic here this summer. Super recreation lakes for swimming. Champion and Pend Oreille.

Trail is very beautiful both scenically and the actual town.
Trail is very beautiful both scenically and the actual town. Lots of older buildings that you can tell have been cared for. The town had a huge influx of Italian immigrants after ww2 so there is still a weird attachment to Christopher Columbus.

For a small town it has enough restaurants, stores and shops. It's big draw is the outdoor recreation: skiing, hiking and mountain biking. Still feels somewhat undiscovered, and priced accordingly.
It is right across the U.S border so very accessible from Eastern WA (Northport border crossing is open 24 hours and rarely busy).
In sum, it is a value-priced and quiet get-away spot.

Genelle is really a suburb of Trail…halfway between Castlegar and Trail, so there are no facilities there. You have to go into either town…Trail is a little closer… if you wish to eat at a restaurant. We ate at the golf course, food was good.

we liked the retro style room. it was the biggest room we have had during our travel. the bathroom was sparkly clean and we didnt find any hair or other mess as people mentioned in their reviews. the room looked exactly how is on the pictures. only one thing what could be improved is the bed frame(the legs) but mattress was very new and comfortable.
we knew we cant expect too much from the room price but we were really surprised how great room we got for the little $$$$

I had been to Rossland for skiing, but had never been to Trail. I liked it as it is a blue collar town with sights to see. The walkway over the Columbia is great as was the museum. Who would have know that in 1910 that Trail had a championship women's hockey team? Had an excellent Italian dinner at Pinos. It is just a nice area and it was pleasant to not be in a TOTALLY DOMINATED tourist town such as my residence in Idaho.

Rossland, located just a few minutes from Red Mountain...
Rossland, located just a few minutes from Red Mountain Resort, is a cute historic mining town. Many of the turn of the century buildings are maintained and in use. Only a handful of restaurantes, but all are good. It is a fairly small mountain community with all services one would need. We stayed 4 nights and felt it was about the right length of visit, but could certainly enjoy longer.

I have enjoyed Trail in previous years.
I have enjoyed Trail in previous years. It has a lot of history and the view from the top of the old town is spectacular.
The downtown is a bit of a mess. Many empty storefronts and many street people who, by all appearances, are drug addicted. I wasn't afraid to walk but it was noticeable.
My favourite place to eat is Kootenay Kebab on Eldorado Street. Delicious food and wonderful people.
It's always nice to shop at Ferraro Food store. Their selection of everything exotic is amazing!

Rossland, BC is a quaint small town with hundreds of hiking/biking opportunities at the edge of town. This small town is higher up in the hills above the Columbia River and leaves crowded scene around Trail and the river area behind. We tried several restaurants in town, the Flying Steamshovel (interesting menu family dinning), and Gabriella's with another great menu and very slightly upscaple (no fancy clothes required). People pop out onto the crosswalks without notice (and without looking) so be careful driving and slow down. Rossland, BC is close to Red Mountain ski resort and not far from the US border (11 km) north of Spokane, WA.
