We have just come back from a really relaxing week at Casa Suites Minizoo. The owner Manuel was super friendly and anything we needed he was happy more than happy to help. The rooms were spotless and very spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, including drinking water. The pool area had chairs and sunloungers and was also very clean and comfortable. There are some nice restaurants within walking distance. It is about a 15 minute walk from the closest beach and more restaurants and bars and 30 minutes from the main beach.

The pool area was amazing. Our room was large, with comfortable beds overlooking the beautiful pool. Our room was cleaned each day we stayed.
We had food in the restaurant one evening but it wasn't anything special.
La Julia is the best place for breakfast/lunch. It's a 2 minute walk away.
Playa Coral (about 5-10 minute walk away) is a nice quiet beach for swimming. We went snorkelling off the beach there and saw loads of lovely fish.
The hotel is remote, but given the quality of the food at La Julia, I would return to stay here if I came back.
The hotel is walkable to Vive Mar, to release a turtle and watch beautiful sunsets.

The property & the staff were incredible I would highly recommend anyone to stay here if visiting Puerto Escondido, Perfectly located to the main beaches and within distance to get a taxi to anywhere! (Which the reception staff will call for you!)
The pool area is amazing very relaxing and lots of space to be able to enjoy yourself and take a break from all the activities you may have planned.
I would also recommend everyone to try the breakfast at least once for the price and the selection is amazing for a mix of Mexican & some American breakfast foods like pancakes & French toast.
we also wanted to give a big shoutout to Carlos and the house keeping team for being amazing throughout our stay.

A huge long beach, Zicatela is a lovely place but will change very soon with all the development and construction going on.
Already lots of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels, but still relatively chilled at the moment.
Beware of what you carry, police search anyone they can on the beach to extort money!!

Even if a relatively small town the neighbourhoods are very different; Centro where the hotel is, more local people, Bacocho (a bit more hipster was my impression), Zicatela the touristic part with a lovely beach and Brisas de Zicatela where its mostly backpackers and surfers (its just off Punta Zicatela where the best waves are)

Hotel Kuaa was the perfect spot for our stay in Puerto Escondido. The staff is attentive and facilitated everything we needed while we were there, from taxis to in room massage to even calling a doctor when one of us got sick. The location of the hotel is super convenient, right on the beach, but also removed enough from the main party scene that it feels secluded and relaxing. Highly recommend staying here

It grew on me. I didn't love it at first. I think its more suited to younger people than people in their mid 40s + who have already done the backpacking thing. Also I live on a beautiful beach in Australia so it's hard to be impressed by grey sand of Zacatelas beach.. However Carrizalillo beach was beautiful. I recommend visiting that beach while you are there.
I felt like a bit of a sellout as Puerto is not the real mexico, there are more Australians and Americans there than Mexicans it seems. So if you want an authentic Mexican experience you should go to Puebla or Mexico city, but if your looking for a chilled vibe on the beach then you will probably like Puerto.
You'll find better food in other parts of the country also - Oaxaca city, Meixco city, Puebla etc.
It's very hot there. but there's nothing much else to do than hang at the beach.

Very nice staff, very correct single rooms with a high water pressure in the showers (a rarity in PXM!), decent prices. Much better than other hostels in the area. Great staff (thank you Becca and Pato and all the others which name I don’t remember).
