The guest house exceeded expectations.
The guest house exceeded expectations. It was beautifully furnished and fantastically clean. Great to have a smart tv and good Wi-Fi too. Air con worked and staff were really friendly. Only thing to let it down was the breakfast but to be honest we booked without breakfast included and later told breakfast would be provided. Orange juice and coffee were excellent but couldn’t eat cereal without milk being provided. Having said that, we would definite stay there again as it’s worth the value for money even without the breakfast. Thanks for a short but great stay.

Visiting Kosice in December is the best option, city is well decorated and there are many ongoing city events and gatherings. There are many historical places to visit, especially old churches, beautiful montains and shopping malls. Kosice combines old and new in a single whole.

I come here every year for the International Peace Marathon...
I come here every year for the International Peace Marathon and I think that this fact says it all - i simply like this marathon weekends, the run itself, the atmosphere around... and there is always something historical to explore when there is some free time. Or not historical, but some interesting exposition in the Slovak technical museum.

The central section is a delight of course but a stroll through the back streets is also worthwhile for the atmosphere (who expects to find a great bell mounted on an insignificant corner) and architectural oddities.
Kosice is not all that great on English ( or other western European languages) but leaving taxi drivers out of the equation you can usually find someone to answer questions. The eateries are good here but best are the smaller ones.
Biggest gripe? Not getting the best directions about leaving by train to Hungary - which in Sept 2025 was actually by bus to the border.
