We decided to have a two-day break in Perigueux which is just over an hour’s drive from where we live. My wife prefers apartments to hotels so I looked at what was available in the centre. One or two seemed OK, then this popped up. Staying in an old folks home sounded like a bizarre option but when we looked at the location – a straight drive into the centre (6km/10 minutes), the setting, free parking and, from the photos, what seemed to be lovely accommodation, we thought we’d give it a go. It was excellent. There was concise pre-arrival information & a warm friendly welcome from Isabelle, an informative rundown of the facilities (which includes a large pool), access arrangements, restaurant & breakfast. It was all very slick. The apartment was modern, had a large balcony overlooking the gardens and there was quality wherever you looked – cutlery, crockery, pots & pans, kettle, coffee machine and a large fridge/freezer in the kitchen, a really comfy bed, nice lounge furniture, a large shower room and tons of wardrobe and cupboard space. And the towels and bathrobes …. The Paris George V could not have provided any better. Of course it’s all designed and equipped for long term seniors residence and it’s all new but it was a lovely couple of days in magnificent surroundings.

Enough of kitchen utensils. - Owner meets you for check-in, shows around the appartment. - There are no disadvantages, this was only positive experience. We stayed for 2 nights, 2 adults and 3 kids.

Last minute holidays that worked beautifully. Got a house with view on the lac (note: not all of them have a view, better ask if that's important for you). The Guest house was perfect for our family of 4 (kids 9y old, 4y old) and we appreciated the welcome basket upon arrival ! You need a car to get there. Plenty of things to visit around (e.g les grottes de Villar)
