Classic decor combined with modern amenities made for a great overnight stop. The room was large with a very pleasant street view, yet quiet. The shower was strong with stable water temperature. Linens were pleasantly fragrant and the bed was comfortable, making for a very restful night of sleep. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Parking was free and right outside the front door. A 5-10 minute walk towards town center provided a number of restaurants with tastes for every palate (including ours). The lodge's proprietor is one of the nicest people we've encountered during our travels. All in all, a short but enjoyable stay at a strongly recommended property.

Everything you imagine about a country pub, come together at the Plough. Warm cosy setting, friendly staff making you feel welcome We were staying overnight for a visit the next day at Carlisle Racecourse. What a find less than 5 minutes from J42 of M6 and 5 minutes from the Racecourse. Food was special, incredible roasts and we will definitely be returning to sample weekday menu options. The welcome included banking up the log burner for us and giving us a tour of the recently decorated and super comfy bedrooms. You cannot go wrong either stopping by for a meal and breaking up a journey on M6 as you reach J42, your sat nav will find Plough Inn easily. Real ales, tasty wines, and glasses which make the drink look and taste excellent. We were treated to a special breakfast, well done Simon, Diane and Peter for being great ambassadors for your beautiful country Inn.
