From the moment we arrived, Carol made us feel incredibly welcome. The castle itself is stunning—full of character, history, and charm—while still offering all the modern comforts you’d hope for. The room was beautifully appointed, spotless, and cozy, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Breakfast was a real highlight: fresh, delicious, and served with genuine hospitality. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a peaceful, elegant escape in a truly unique setting.

We absolutely loved the breakfast. The sausages are to die for! I also don't think we have slept in a comfier bed, just what we needed to refresh us day to day. Georgie and Malcolm were also extremely accommodating, making sure that we had everything we needed whilst also giving us valuable tips and advice on exploring Edinburgh.

We can highly recommend this place. We enjoyed our time on and around the beautiful property. The host and hostess were exceptionally helpful and informative. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor seating area near the river. If you are going to the Newcastleton area, this is where you should stay.

They were extremely helpful and informative. The guesthouse is situated in a perfect location within walking distance to kelso Town centre. We had a very comfortable stay and thoroughly enjoyed the homemade breakfast.

I need to first mention the exceptionally nice hosts of this B&B. Both ladies were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and really make you feel Scottish Hospitality at its best. And we thought this was only a Highlands thing! How wrong we were... The room was very nice and super clean, and the bathroom as well. Pretty modern too. Also, we need to mention the outstanding breakfast, which my girlfriend rated as the best she's had in all of Scotland! It's hard to argue with that, to be honest, we definitely left with a big smile. It's a very small B&B, but if you can, book this one. I can't do anything but highly recommend Hillcrest, and if we're ever in the neighbourhood again, this is the first place we're looking at.
