The hotel is beautifully designed, cozy, and full of charm. The location is perfect – just a minute from the lake and surrounded by the sweetest little shops in magical Keswick. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. Breakfast was simply fantastic – a high-quality menu with delicious options made to order, plus drinks and homemade granola. Truly one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in a hotel! Our room was gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated, and every day we were treated to fresh homemade cookies waiting for us – such a lovely touch. There’s also private parking which is very convenient. We honestly enjoyed every single moment and didn’t want to leave. We travel a lot, and this is by far our favorite hotel. We will definitely be back!

Set in a quaint little town, this inn is right in the heart of it all. The rooms were perfectly cozy and comfortable, the staff incredibly welcoming, and the breakfast was generous and delicious. Highly recommended!

Dating from around 1659, the String of Horses is a traditional coaching inn is set in the country village of Faugh, 8 miles from Carlisle and junction 43 of the M6 motorway.

String of Horses lies in the middle of one of the most beautiful and historic areas of Britain: near Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District and the Scottish borders. Warm and welcoming. We had a tasty dinner and breakfast was excellent. The room was modern and comfortable but the history was still evident throughout the building.
