He even provided a room for our driver since we arrived much later than expected due to the long line of vehicles waiting to get on the ferry from Parapat to Samosir. We really appreciated everything he did for us.

The breakfast (made by Michaël) was delicious — and even served with a smile if you oversleep by more than an hour 😄 But the real highlight was the hosts, Dila and Michaël. They are truly the best hosts you could wish for — incredibly kind, helpful, and genuine. They helped us with everything: transportation, tickets, and local tips. Dila took us to the city and market several times and always managed to get us amazing deals. We feel so lucky to have met them — not just as hosts, but now as friends. ❤️ We can’t recommend Mila Homestay enough!✨️🔝

Bylo to nejlepší ubytování, jaké jsme měli na naší cestě po Malajsii a Indonésii. Tyson a jeho rodina byli skvělí. Tysonova teta nám vařila úžasná domácí jídla. From the first contact on everything was organized perfectly (transport from and to the airport, the trek, finding a group to treck with etc.). The staff is really nice, you feel like family there. They also invited me for dinner and we talked about many different things, like culture differences. I did a 2 day 1 night treck with Rian (Guide), Sarol (Assistant Guide) and Mawan (Chef). A very good experience with a lot of explanations and fun. The food was also delicious. You can see, that they have a lot of experience.

As a solo traveler traveling in low season, I expected there might be some inconveniences. however, the staffs of Kupukupu helped me to overcome all the difficulties, planning and arranging my trips well with good value. I also like the cookings from their kitchen. You need to order dinner in the morning then they can buy fresh food in the day and cook the dishes well. I tried some other restaurant with high rating in the village, unfortunately, their food are not fresh at all. I really appreciate the Kupu Kupu kitchen prepares the dishes with heart, even for one single guest.

Location, location, location! This is the best place to experience the true bukit lawang - almost tourist free. I stayed here with my baby for more than a week and we’ve felt so like home here. The river is absolutely stunning with deep pools, shallow pools and a sandbank!! You are also so close to the national park, and the stream of water directly from the mountain (just a 5min walk away). Every mornings and evenings we are greeted with unique jungle music and sounds of orang utans (now and then). We even spotted a big male orang utan right at the back of our room once. Food and fruit juices were absolutely delicious and people here are very friendly. They played with my daughter very much like family and it made our stay a very comfortable one. If you’re coming with family or babies, you can request for the upper big room with shelves and is more spacious. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning.
