Who we are as reviewers: Older, married couple who travel extensively in Europe and the US (over 60 plane trips, about 25 Bnbs in Ireland, and slept in about 150 different beds in past 3 years) - based in Ireland. Decades of professional experience in city planning, architecture, and construction; some limited hospitality experience in US resort community. Recent stay: Feb, 2025, one night. Overall: The superior rating of this bnb is accurate and richly deserved. Location: Excellent. About 4 -5 blocks north of Smithwick Brewery, which is on one end of downtown. Easy walk there by older couple. Nice selection of restaurants (pubs and better) within two or three blocks. Near two performance spaces and library. Local bus stop directly across street. Building easily found with nice sign hanging over front door. Check-in – self check-in. Security: Neighborhood – No issues visible to us. Urban setting on main, local street. Nice neighborhood; good building; lots of foot traffic (which is good for safety); and, mix of residential, office and commercial uses. Building – Renovated, urban townhouse with an interior courtyard. Well maintained and attractive. Front door visible from sidewalk; front door is very secure with a push button security lock. No issues. No dedicated outdoor space. Total of five guest rooms that are separated enough from each other that privacy is maintained. Room – Individual lock-boxes outside each room. Easy to operate. Door has interior lock. We were on the second floor so window locks not observed. No safe within room. No question about feeling safe. Parking – limited but enough on-site parking within courtyard behind building – felt safe and secure. Other uses within courtyard appear to be fairly high-end residential. Small public lot directly across the street and on-street parking. Room: Very nice. Good size for a couple with plenty of space to walk next to bed on both sides. Our room had three nice sized window

We have stayed several times and love it

The rooms are large and lovely. Nice and warm. The bathroom as well. Very well located. Zero noise can be heard from the pub downstairs. Really well located

Lovely warm welcome from Freda on reception, she checked in during the stay to see how we’re getting on. Gorgeous breakfast with really great service. Comfortable bed, gorgeous room. Lovely place for a break.

Staff was extremely welcoming. Room was perfect for friends, with two large single beds. Instructions for parking were very clear and easy.

location was good for what we wanted and in a nice area in Dublin. was about a 40 minute walk into the Town Centre.

Very friendly staff. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. It's a great place if you use your hotel room just for sleeping and spend the rest of the day in the city. Perfect for business trips!

It was my 4th or 5th stay at Donnybrook Hall which I believe says a lot. On this occasion, however, everything (entry, check-in) was automatic. It worked well and the instruction was clear but I missed the lady who used to welcome guests (unfortunately I forgot her name). To me she's the most friendly face of Donnybrook Hall. I hope she's still there and I just missed her. If not - I'm sending her my kind regards and wishes for the very happy Christmas and happy new year.

The accommodation was fabulous! The facilities were brilliant and the host was very welcoming and helpful. The location was great only a 10 minute walk to the town and shopping facilities. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely booking again.
