The hosts are amazing-we had one dinner made by them the day we arrived and it was big and delicious 😋 They also helped us arrange the Tiger Hill sunrise tour last minute really for a good price and they woke up at 4 to help us. Room is small but cosy. A bit cold at night but that's part of Himalayan adventure! Also, bathroom had enough hot water to warm up before sleep. View is AMAZING.

Lakeside Suites is a real gem in Kolkata. It's the southern part of the city, which is less busy but well connected by bus, taxi or rickshaw to other parts of Kolkata. There are many shops, tea stalls and eateries nearby, and even phone shops to get a local sim. The rooms are very clean and spacious - both my wife and I had space to do yoga in the room- and there is a shared living room and kitchen per floor. There is freshly made Indian-style breakfast is served every day. The owner Manoj, his son and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly, and also very helpful in helping us navigate things like doing laundry, using train apps and finding things. I have to stress, though, that this place is super clean and there is even filtered drinking water available for all the suites. We had to stay an extra day, and they quickly accommodated us as well. All in all, a really nice experience that in all honesty we were sad to leave behind.

Jasmine Homestay Darjeeling poskytuje sdílený lounge, terasu a sdílenou kuchyň. Tiger Hill je 13 km odtud. It was a beautiful experience to spend some time with such warmhearted people. Jasmine ji was too good and too jovial. It felt like home to be honest. We got to attend a local dusshera mela as well and the entire trip was a 10/10.

The hosts were always available with warm smiles and readiness to serve us warm delicious meals. We were well fed throughout the day with lunch on arrival, a delicious dinner and snacks in between. The breakfast was amazing the morning after. The hosts serve authentic Bengali cuisine throughout the day and our group was diverse in terms of age and cultural backgrounds which made the experience even more wholesome as we could appreciate both the nature at the property as well as the gastronomic delights. Last but not the least, the property belongs to an eminent Bengali economist which makes it a very prestigious stay in the Bengali cultural capital. We stayed there during the winter festival week and made use of the local transport to enjoy the local cultural shows and did a lot of shopping. The house is located at the heart of Shantiniketan which allowed us to access the main attractions with ease. We could also enjoy the garden at the property with a lot of joy and made a lot of photos and memories to look back at.

The layout is both interesting and effective. It is half a floor of a large apartment block divided into 6 rooms. My room was brilliant with quality inclusions and serious soundproofing. Apart from that, I received some excellent help when I needed it, far beyond the call of duty. I will definitely try and book the B&B when I am in Kolkata next.
