We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere surronded by animals while we were actually ideally located. We saw the lion rock, Dambulla and did 2 safaris from the hotel (Horulu & Wilpattu). You can also find nice restaurants and shops just outside the resort. Hosts are very helpful to give you advice, price, find tuk tuk at any time etc...Everyone was lovely and our deluxe water cottage was very comfortable.

This accommodation is located near the Sigiriya Rock, just the right distance from the entrance, accessible by foot. Our room was really neat and comfortable. We were provided with an electric kettle, some tea and coffee, and also with some staff of sanitary kit (shampoo, soap, body lotion). The breakfast was really delicious, cooked by the host family. Also, we arranged a safari trip to see elephants which was an unforgettable life-experience! Highly recommended to families with children. This place is definitely one of the most loved accommodations in Sri Lanka!

The property was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, offering everything we needed for a perfect getaway. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. They even drove us everyday for lunch and dinner when needed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic, relaxing experience in Sri Lanka!

Extremely clean, spacious room with pool view. Pool was great! There is a lake also at the property. Management was helpful and friendly. Amazing safari was also arranged by them. Food at property is also great!

I stayed in the cottage for just one night, but I really liked the place itself, the people who welcomed me, and the room I stayed in. I arrived very late, past the check-in time, but they accommodated me without any issues. The cottage is surrounded by a beautiful garden, and in the morning, I saw an iguana, a squirrel, a rabbit, and even a peacock right in front of my door. The room was clean and very spacious. Breakfast was delicious, filling, and satisfying. It’s a wonderful place - I just wish I had more time to stay there!

Villa Hanguk is an ideal spot if you plan to explore the Dambulla area. The owner is incredibly helpful, offering assistance with scooter or tuk-tuk rentals and organizing local trips. The villa is nestled just 400 meters from the main city street, surrounded by lush paddy fields. The beautifully maintained garden is filled with vibrant plants and flowers, offering plenty of cozy spots to relax—whether in a hammock, at a dining area, or playing table games. Being in the middle of nature, you can expect the delightful sounds of wildlife, including peacocks. It truly adds to the charm of the place. One of the highlights of our stay was the Sri Lankan food. The meals were not only delicious but also generously portioned. I highly recommend skipping outside restaurants and instead asking the staff to prepare dinner for you—you won’t be disappointed!

Pearl's Homestay Matale nabízí zahradu, terasu a pokojovou službu. Nákupní centrum Kandy City Center je 27 km odtud. When my driver edged up the narrow-inclined driveway of this very modern home, I didn’t know what to expect. But Pearle and her husband Ranjan greeted me with broad smiles and open arms. After they had retired, they built this sophisticated home on their family’s property. Since the terrain of Matale is mostly mountainous, their home is perched up high on a small hill, allowing a beautiful view of the city from their wide terrace. Communication was swift and efficient as their daughter fielded email questions from the UK. English was spoken perfectly by all members of the family, so no worries for any miscommunication. I had arrived in the late afternoon and Pearle offered me tea. Ranjan returned with some short eats and we sat around chatting. The conversation was easy and I felt like I was visiting good friends for the afternoon. My room was located just off their living room with an adjacent bathroom with contemporary fixtures – it felt like I was in a fancy hotel! The stylish room with extremely high ceilings was spacious and tastefully decorated with an enormous mosquito net tied with ribbons around the large four poster bed. There is a portable air conditioner/fan which was not really needed as the evenings are usually cool and temperate. Breakfast was a luxurious feast with red rice string hoppers, potato curry, dal, green gram and a delicious, spicy chicken curry. Watermelon, pineapple, and sweet juicy papaya from their garden rounded out the meal. After retirement, Pearle turned her interests to cooking and she is certainly an accomplished cook! My only regret was staying only one night and will certainly come back for a longer visit!

The place was very welcoming, and the hosts were absolutely amazing—kind, attentive, and helpful. The location was perfect, especially since we were quite exhausted from our journey. Being close to our planned attractions made everything so much easier. On top of that, the breakfast was delicious! We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and would highly recommend this place to other travelers.
