My wife and I began to consider our options as we followed a stranger in a foreign country into the empty desert to stay at a camp we weren’t sure truly existed. Sure, Oman has ridiculously low crime rate, but the possibilities of what awaited us were endless. After a 20 minute drive through bedouin camps and an empty sea of sand we were relieved to find the camp as pictured on the site. However, shortly after setting up for bed, the camp was hit by a storm which was extremely rare to the area. I stood there for 30 minutes holding the pole of the tent from inside, so it didn’t collapse on us, as the rain and wind pattered the canvas. If I could go back in time to the moment we started our journey… I would do it a million times over. Thousand Stars is a passion project started by Ali and his companion, and cared for by a truly honorable and wonderful caretaker - Sadam. It is not a 5 star resort run by a board of trustees with millions of investment dollars. It is 3 men, who put their blood sweat and tears into each and every night. We started the evening off by having tea, coffee and fruits with Ali and discussing life. Shortly after, Ali ensured we were comfortable and left us to be. We were the only couple there that night so we had the whole camp to ourselves. There are usually 2-3 tents available per night. My wife and I spent some time chatting under the moonlight, but called it early as we saw a storm approaching. Sadam was working hard to cover the dining tent with a tarp so that we could be comfortable while eating dinner. The storm came, and yes, there was a short bit of time where I had to hold the tent up but this was no fault of the camp - just nature. Despite the storm, Sadam trekked over to our tent from his to make sure we were ok. Right after the storm ended I heard the roar of a car. It was Ali again, who drove all the way back just to make sure everything was ok.

Bubbles Domes Private Cmp se nachází v destinaci Al Wāşil v oblasti Al Sharqiyah a nabízí neplacené soukromé parkoviště. Unique, remote but with all the comforts of home. Peaceful but exciting, fantastic glamping tents, luxurious with a private deck. Food was delicious. Staff were outstanding. Said was a fantastic person.

This was the perfect stay in a Desert camp, the transfer was easy we arrived early and they came to pick us up so we didn’t have to wait. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We did the dune bashing it’s well worth the money, and dinner and breakfast were delicious, highly recommend!

Rashid Desert Private Camp se nachází v destinaci Badīyah a nabízí terasu a vybavení pro grilování. Tento luxusní stan nabízí neplacené soukromé parkoviště a sdílenou kuchyň. Rashid was super kind and hospitable. The camp was in a pristine location with no one else around. The tents were new and comfortable. The food was delicious and there were fresh dates, coffee and tea available. We were chatting with Rashid the whole night and he was sharing interesting information about the country and religion. We also crashed our car in the dunes and Rashid helped us out with a local workshop who fixed our broken parts. All in all we can only recommend this camp.

Wadi Bani Khalid - Al Joud Green Hostel se nachází v destinaci Dawwah a nabízí venkovní bazén, zahradu a ubytování s bezplatným Wi-Fi a výhledem do zahrady. Tato chata poskytuje také soukromý bazén. celý objekt jsme měli jen pro sebe, v každé místnosti klimatizace, vyhřívaný bazén, funkční pračka, pohodlné postele, klid v okolí a blízkost jezírek a treků ve vádí - supermarkety ve vzdálenosti 15 minut autem, otevřené i v Ramadánu

Arab desert camp se nachází v destinaci Al Raka a poskytuje ubytování s posezením. K dispozici je vlastní koupelna s kompletním vybavením včetně bidetu a bezplatných toaletních potřeb. Dinner and campfire after sunset with beduin music and dance 🙂

Salem Fish Guest House poskytuje restauraci, zahradu, sdílený lounge a terasu. Pláž Ras Al Hadd Beach se nachází 2,5 km odtud. Na místě je dostupné Wi-Fi zdarma ve všech prostorách. It’s beautiful. The rooms are clean and the food was fresh and amazing!

SandGlass Camp se nachází v destinaci Badīyah a nabízí ubytování s posezením. Všechny ubytovací jednotky mají kuchyňský kout, sdílenou koupelnu a terasu nebo balkon s výhledem na město. From the moment we booked, we received clear and consistent communication about the arrangements for our stay in the dunes. We were picked up at the said location (easy to find) and the two brothers that runs it made us feel at home, they ensure that we were comfortable and also offering tea and snacks. We had dinner on the location, it was very good and they ensure the menu was according to our food restrictions and preference.

Wadi shab guest house se nachází v destinaci Ţīwī a nabízí venkovní bazén, zahradu, terasu a bezplatné Wi-Fi. Na místě je k dispozici soukromé parkoviště. The room overlooks the sea exactly in the pictures. The owner was really kind and suggested we do the tour of wadi shab early in the morning leaving the luggage in the room to check out later. The beach is really nice and you can spot turtles just by standing on the sand, also bioluminescent plankton!
