Cleythil is located outside Maldegem, a 20-minute drive from historic Bruges and 30 minutes' drive from Ghent and the North Sea beach. The garden offers views of the Drongengoed forests and fields. This place feels more like a cozy guesthouse than a typical hotel — and that’s a good thing! The location is super convenient, just a stone’s throw from the train station. Since we arrived in Ghent by train and left the same way, it worked out perfectly for us. You can reach the city center in about 20 minutes on foot, or just hop on a tram that stops right by the station — easy peasy. Downstairs there’s a fully equipped kitchen and a chill common area, which came in handy for preparing a quick bite or stashing some breakfast essentials in the fridge. Tea and coffee? Free and flowing! The place is spotlessly clean, and you can tell the building was recently renovated — everything feels fresh and inviting. Before we left, we had a lovely chat with the owner, who was incredibly warm and friendly. If we ever come back to Ghent (and we hope we do!), we’ll definitely stay here again.
