Don't look down this lodge. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Owner Mama Yati & Papa Mas are the role model of hospitality industry. They have an ideal of their beautiful lodge development from heart. I have a relax and comfortable stay while my first Ironman race here. Without they taking care of me, I may not be finished the race in satisfy result. HIGHLY recommend for anyone who wanted to be an IRONMAN!!!

We booked our room (Rainforest studio) at Ambong Ambong rainforest retreat for 5 nights at the end of our Malaysia-Trip and I have to say that it was one of the most amazing hotels I`ve ever stayed at. The rooms look exactly like in the pictures, there`s everything you need, its clean, spacious and beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, high quality care products, complimentary drinks and snacks and fresh water every day. I think there are only about 10 rooms in total so it has a very familial touch. The pool is surrounded by the lush vegetation and wonderful to cool off after a long day (not a spot to get a tan though, as there are trees all around). What makes Ambong Ambong exceptional is the location - up on the hill directly in the rainforest, surrounded by dense vegetation, squirrels and monkeys once in a while. We had breakfast every day at the vegan breakfast lounge, and although we are not vegan (not even vegetarian), the food was exceptional! If you prefer "normal" breakfast, you can go to the other Ambong Ambong hotel located a 5 min. walk away, where you can also have dinner at the roof top terrace (shuttle available). The staff at Ambong Ambong are so unbelievably nice that you feel like home in an instant. They help you with everything - my husband lost his phone in a taxi and one member of staff drove to the taxi stations and spread the word, so the phone was secured in less than an hour. Thanks again for this exceptional help, we are so grateful! There is a nice yoga deck with a class every saturday and wonderful spa treatments. The next beach (surely not the most beautiful on the island but nice for a dip) can be reached in 5 min. walk, as well as many nice restaurants. As I read in other reviews, yes, the sound from the Dash-Resort nearby is audible from afternoon until late. Actually we got used to it and didn't even notice it after about one day.

Such a friendly welcoming place to stay. Super clean and lovely garden. Excellent value for money. It felt like we were part of Didi and Nanthi’s family. Omelette for breakfast I will never forget. Very close to airport and to Telega harbour if going to Koh lipe. Will be returning next week for more happiness.

Breakfast was great - choose whatever you like from the short menu. Location perfect.

All of the staff, reception, grounds man were exceptional. A warm & friendly welcome from the reception (Wani & Ika, always had a smile and were very helpful) and the grounds man (Hathai) kept the pool area, car park & roads ways immaculate. The location is ideal away from the noise of the centre of the street but still within a few minutes walk to the beach / shops / restaurants. The rooms are clean & large, we had a pool facing room and it was definitely worth the extra cost, good shower too.

Honestly, the staff at this hotel were super friendly and chill – made the whole stay feel easy and comfortable. What really surprised me though was the beach! I didn’t expect Tanjung Rhu to be that beautiful. The water was so clear and the beach was peaceful, almost felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Such a great spot!

This place has a fantastic vibe. I love nature and it really captured a sense of being your own private haven in the middle of the wild.. yet 2 min walk to the main drag. My favourite part were the friendly little family of cats that hung out with us the whole time.  Mamma cat and her two baby kittens as well as a couple of friendly adolescent cats (her previous litter I think). There's a lovely little balcony where you can while away the day in private, surrounded by garden and petting the cats. Big stumpy (what we coined the bigger of the stumpy tailed cats as there was a matching kitten too) was crazy friendly. He followed us everywhere, literally. We had to draw the line at following us into the bathroom and gently coax him back out. On top of this there were spectacled monkeys, squirrels and our own pet gecko. The king bed was comfy and spacious and the room had a lot of surfaces to put your things. I wish I could have stayed longer but it was booked out. Sam and Jeffrey were kind and super friendly and helpful

Basic but quite adequate and I would certainly stay here again.
