Much larger than expected. The peace and quiet is difficult to describe (especially around sunset). Can highly recommend.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom house and it was very spacious! 3 large king beds + 2 twins, great for a big group or family. The living area also had a nice area to hang out. It was very private and quiet. There is no AC, but big fans above each bed which was great. The entire house has screened windows. The restaurant overlooks the ocean and is a great place to hang out and relax, there are a few hammocks and also a kid's playground and small dip pool. The food was great, we appreciated the variety and enjoyed things like the Thai curry. Everything is prepared fresh, so it takes time, but we liked that. The ocean in front of the resort is great as the rocks create a small shallow lagoon. Perfect for kids. The resort is very family friendly. There is even a gym for a workout! Sam was one of the many friendly staff members who took great care of us. He drove us to/from town and helped us organize a tour. Rides to/from town during normal hours are 500 mets, but they will drive you to the Kumba Lodge for free. We walked to town many times along the beach which was beautiful, it is a 30 minute walk from the resort to the edge of town (Liquid Divers building) via the beach. Overall we had a great stay!

The beach is just a few metres away, allowing you to jump into the Indian Ocean whenever you like without the hassles that occur once you are even just a few hundred metres away. It's ideal for children: a shallow entrance and smooth waves. Special thanks to Wanette and Shawn, the managers of the lodge. Everything was expertly managed plus their advice and support in booking activities in the area was invaluable. From snorkelling to see seahorses and hundreds of sea stars, to collecting pansy shells or doing a quad-bike tour into the area or going whale shark viewing. I can highly recommend venturing out. The chalets themselves are not new but well maintained. We bought fresh Portuguese rolls from the locals every morning and also amazing tiger prawns for the braai. They were very friendly and I recommend supporting them. Alternatively there are two restaurant options in walking distance just along the beach. Green Turtle is pricey/upmarket, but don't we all need some spoils during our vacation? Overall we had a great time in Barra!

Absolutely the best staff in the whole Mozambique! They helped us a lot with many things for our trip. They were always friendly, chatty and gave us many details regarding the country and attractions nearby. Pleace itself is very nice and charming. The food was very tasty and there are many healthy options.
