Laura and Lucia were very friendly and attentive since our first contact, welcoming us and showing us the suite. The place is very spacious and cozy, with heated floors and plenty of natural light. The apartment is perfectly located close to transport links (the train station is 5' walk) and the historic city center, and is surrounded by amenities to cover all needs; being in a gated area, it's also very quiet and private. On-site, secure parking is also available, which we took advantage of. The stay itself was brilliant: our hosts were in constant communication before and during our stay, and graciously checked us in for an earlier-than-expected arrival, and, furthermore, gave us a smattering of tips about places to visit (and, more importantly, to eat in). The accomodation is bright and airy, and way, way more spacious than expected; everything was immaculately clean and modern, and longer stays will be especially well-catered for by the ensuite appliances (coffee machine, kettle, fridge, which come with a stock of teas and coffee pods) and shared kitchen. Last but not least, the bed and beddings were as comfortable as can be, and, combined with the general peace-and-quiet, gave us some of the best sleep we've had on our trip across France and Italy. Refael and Avital made us feel welcome across our entire stay, going out their way to ensure it was our best, and they definitely did so, and more. Highly recommended!

I was there to photograph several churches but found the city charming and could have enjoyed another day there. The Hotel Moderno right across from the train station was a great choice given its location close to the historic center, reserved on street parking, and proximity to the train station.

If you like interesting old churches and a lively town...

If you like interesting old churches and a lively town centre Pavia is a great place to visit for a couple of days. About 5 miles out of town is an amazing monastery complex. You can get there by bus or train but these methods required too much walking in the intense heat so we took taxis. Well worth a visit. Everyone friendly and helpful.

Pavia has wonderful medieval churches and a big museum at the Castello. The tomb of St. Augustine is amazing, and is a favorite stopping point of Pope Leo XIV. Boethius is also buried in Pavia. The city still keeps traditional Mediterranean hours (2-2 1/2-hour break midday), so it takes a day or two longer to see all the sites. We found good restaurants and would happily have stayed longer. It is said that April-May are the best months to visit, and it was already hot (80 degrees) at the end of May.

I've visited Pavia a few times.

I've visited Pavia a few times. In a recent visit, I went to the Museo Kosmos, the Natural History Museum. Founded in the 1700's it's one of the world's oldest museums dedicated to natural history, but with a modern vibe - apparently over 500 exhibits (I didn't count them!), multimedia games, videos, interactive activities for children. An excellent place of learning.

Pavia has a modern centre and the older part has some lovely buildings. Certosa di Pavia, an old monastery, is 9 minutes by train (don't forget to validate your ticket in the machine next to the platform entrance). Do check the opening times, though. Pavia would also be convenient for visiting other cities in the area

The location of the hotel was excellent and the room had all the necessary amenities. Although no breakfast was available, the room had a coffee making machine, kettle, and microwave. The host also left some snacks for us. She was very welcoming and gave us very important information which made our stay in Pavia much more enjoyable.
