Our stay at Mallara Rest Safari was truly incredible! If you're a nature lover, this place is an absolute must-visit. Babi and his staff are exceptionally hospitable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The accommodation itself is beautifully designed, blending perfectly with its surroundings. Right next to the property, we saw various animals passing by—during the day, water buffaloes and stunning birds, and at night, even elephants! The food was absolutely delicious, adding to the overall experience. Staying in the treehouse was magical—it allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature, listening to the soothing sounds of wildlife at night, which felt almost meditative. Babi also took us to explore different local spots, showing us breathtaking views and beautiful scenery that we wouldn't have found on our own. We also arranged a safari nearby, exploring the nearby Yala Block 5 and 6, where we were lucky enough to see leopards, elephants, and a variety of other animals. Overall, our experience was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable nature getaway!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, the staff is amazing, Amal is a great cook and a lovely human being who even took us to the hospital when we needed. I recommend the lake fish and the vegetable omelet in the morning! And please don’t miss the night boat tour, it’s a gem

This is an excellent family run Hotel, a jewel in Tissa.. Immaculate in every aspects, rooms, general.areas, swimming pool all spotless. Food great staff wonderful and very helpful. Jeep safari to Yala organised directly at hotel. Great day with a very experienced driver. We even found a Leopard!! Car also organised for our onward trip to Ella I was sorry to leave River Front. Dont miss an opportunity to stay here if you are in Tissa or wish to do Yala Jeep Safari👌

We absolutely loved it here, we’ve even got a room upgrade when we arrived (thank you!!). Everyone is really nice and the food is just amazing, make sure to get your dinner here. The view to the fields & the lake is absolutely amazing! You can also rent bikes to get to the city.

I loved everything about this place. I would like to start by commending Gayan, the host! He is probably the best and nicest host I've had in Sri Lanka. He sent me to the town FOC to get some of the best Sri Lankan food I've eaten, given me a free nature tour around the lake where we can see fruit bats and owls, arranged the safari at the most affordable rate I could find, had some of the most interesting conversations about plants, animals, Sri Lankan culture, etc. Everything in this place felt like a family home. We had tea at 4AM before the safari and was also welcomed back with a king coconut! The room was also amazingly clean, spacious, well decorated and came with an extra cooler fan because Tissa can get quite hot. I definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again!

Host was amazing! Went above and beyond for us. Price also included a delicious dinner and breakfast - worth the money just for that alone. Host also sorted out our safari and let us check out late after this. Would 100% recommend this property.

Great place! My friend and I stayed in this two room home - he was in the bottom room and I was in the top room so we had the whole place to ourselves! The rooms are huge, both with large outdoor space. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are modern, and the property is beautiful. The host, Mithila, is super friendly and helpful. She booked us a well-priced safari at Yala and we were lucky enough to see a leopard! She also said she could order us food to eat at the place, but we decided to go out instead.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was really nice and took care of everything we needed. We had dinner there and it was the best food we had during our trip! We did the safari with them and felt our driver was really knowledgeable and didn't rush through the park
