FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

It is a big City, full of people, wonderful museums, delicious food, lots of art around every corner. The art and history of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera were splendid. Would stay again in Roma Norte. Ubers are easily available, reliable, and economic. But Uber is not allowed at the airport, so make a reservation with a private company. If you want an unbelievable waffle breakfast, please check out Nice Day! Treat yourself to a cooking class at Aura Cocina Mexicana and walk, walk, walk! If you have a day to spend at Tolantongo, go! The hot springs, cave water and river are very nice and really relaxing (but it takes 4 hours to get there and 4 hours home. I would go again in a minute!

I stayed in a beautiful Hotel near Bellas Artes Palace ( Hotel Bellas Artes) . The best location in the Centro Historico. I had dinner at El Cardenal restaurant on Tacuba street. Excent!. Mexico City's Centro Historico is a whole universe inside the city, I will recomend to walk around and discover places in the area, there are penty of restaurants, cantinas, museums, historical sites. It can take more than two days to see the most iconic places. Be ready for a unique adventure. and be safe.

Mexico City is a wonderful place to visit, with so much to offer. There is an incredible variety of museums, historic and religious sites, and vibrant culture. The food is outstanding, and the people are warm, kind, and welcoming. The city is huge and traffic can be heavy, so we mainly used Uber and Didi to get around.

Like any major historical city it has so much to offer.

Like any major historical city it has so much to offer. The city is buzzing with people and there always seems to be something going on in the main square of the Presidential palace. A visit to the Antropological museum is a must along with other local attractions and especially the Belle Artes if there is something on when you are there

Mexico City is the 3rd or 4th largest city in the world.

Mexico City is the 3rd or 4th largest city in the world. There is a lot of poverty visible. We stayed in the Polanco neighborhood which is near to a lot of museums and interesting places. Traveling down to the central historical district about 9 miles away is problematic because of the traffic. Takes forever. We loved the Museum of Anthropology (in Polanco) and we loved the guided tour we took of Teotihucan pyramids which is about 25 miles away but worth it. Our tour guide was Alejandro (Alex) and the tour was sponsored by Airbnb. We highly recommend him. 4 days isn't enough to see everything, obviously. But it's worth going and coming back.

Cannot fathom the pollution, littering and shortage of public transportation, mainly buses, in a cosmopolitan and so beautiful city that is home to millions and receives millions more every day for work and education. Workers are sorely needed every day to sweep, clean, water plants, in a nutshell, maintain the beauty of its parks, streets, and promenades. Traffic is chaotic and unnecessary. We only have to address these peak hours with extra efforts.

I have stayed at Hotel Casa Gonzalez several times over the course of 25 years and the place never disappoints me. The hotel is located in the heart of the rejuvenated and modernized Zona Rosa and is truly an oasis amid the energy and bustle of Mexico City. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food at the restaurant is excellent. If you want an authentic Mexican lodging experience in a safe and secure environment, I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Casa Gonzalez, one of my favorite hotels in the world.

The three hosts I met are great people, friendly and helpful, in particular Colin. Sorry that I didn't get the other two hosts' names. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in and it's happening in Mexico City! Its location is simply the best, after walking in places like Polanco, Reforma, supposedly safer areas. I am so glad I chose to stay in this hostel.

The hotel is stunning inside and the terrace must have the best view in Mexico City. The room was very comfortable, shower was great and the extra touches like a lounge to wait in after check out were fantastic. All the staff are lovely and the location is exceptional for everything in the historical centre. I can't wait to stay again!
