We stayed in this location mainly to visit Sossusvlei which is further south. Solitaire itself is a charming but tiny settlement - only a few buildings and a petrol station, however it has an amazing cafe serving "the world's best apple pie" and it was! SOlitair mountain lodge is a beautiful lodge with an incredible setting. they have a beautiful pool and watering hole close by which brings animals in such as zebra and Gemsbok/Oryx. The rooms were comfortable and large and the space is neat and well maintained. friendly staff made it extra easy to check in. Suitable for one or maybe two nights. There's a shop, petrol station, bakery and lots of parking as well as the hotel and restaurant. Nice outdoor areas and a camp site and the sunsets were great! Food and drinks are well priced at around 200NAD for a meal, 22NAD for a beer and 150NAD for a bottle of wine. Gifts in the shop are slightly more expensive than we saw elsewhere but not loads. Wooden bowls for 195NAD was the same as in the market in Windhoek. There is a reserve and they have 5 cheetahs who are cared for as they were taken in as cubs due to circumstances. We stayed at Agama Lodge for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. The luxury room was superb, aircon most wellcome, the food was good and the pool was a gift from heaven. We enjoyed the delicious food. The staff was friendly, always available and very friendly. The sundowner drive was the highlight. Cars can be parked under a roof, and the rooms and bathrooms are a bit spartan but very okay. The staff is great! On the first night we joined a bbq under the stars in a secluded area, the second night we had a fixed dinner which was also very good. The pool area is super. Sunsets were wonderfull. As guests at the campsite you are allowed to use the two pools at the hotel free of charge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with additional costs. Approx. 40 minutes to the entrance of Sossusvlei.
