I almost never give 10 out of 10, but hotel het Anker deserves it. For the price, there couldn't have been a better stay in de Cocksdorp. The village is small enough that it's in easy walking distance of everything major, and you can also walk to the lighthouse. The small single room was indeed small, but well designed and comfy. looking over the garden, the sun came in the window in the morning. I really liked the underfloor heating in the bathroom and the hot water ran very quickly in the shower. Good quality towels and clean room. The breakfast was also fantastic: scrambled eggs and fried mushrooms/tomatoes cooked regularly by the staff, and tasty bread, rolls, croissants etc. Tea and coffee were free at all times in the lounge and other drinks available for a low price. The WiFi worked well and staff were friendly. Absolutely recommend!!!

We really enjoyed our stay in Smederij Texel, it was amazing. The room was spacious and very clean, the beds were comfortable. There is a very spacious garden in the back to chill out after a long day of cycling. The hosts were really nice and helpful. Breakfast was amazing! (Turns out, good breakfast is really hard to find in the Netherlands, so this is a big plus!) Fresh, high quality products, served with love. It was the best breakfast we had in the Netherlands. The location is very handy since there are restaurants and a bike rental in walking distance, as well as beautiful hiking trails. We highly recommend this place and hope to come back one day!

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The breakfast was a highlight; I appreciated the approach of pre-selecting my meal items, which were ready upon my arrival each morning—this made for a very efficient and enjoyable start to my day. The room was another highlight—spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The bed was particularly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Additionally, the hotel's central location was extremely convenient, allowing easy access to the beach, various dining options, and the bus station. This proximity made my stay both enjoyable and convenient.

Compared to De Koog, De Cocksdorp felt much more comfortable. All of the services were there, but no throng of people. Plus the choice of beaches facing the North Sea or the Wadden Sea, both just a ten minute bike ride away.

The city and it's neighborhood is more charming than I expected. I visited other cities too on the island, but this one I liked the best. Even in the high season it didn't feel crowded at all. You can find here all facilities.

We were only there for a few days and this combined with the...

We were only there for a few days and this combined with the 'Waddenweather' I would have wanted to stay a bit longer. Our stay at the Smederij was nothing short of perfect and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to visit De Cocksdorp. You're right next to de Slufter and various other nature reserves and parks. A short walk brings you to the Waddensea for a muddy walk. We rented e-Bikes in town and for food I'd definitely recommend Bij Joost, which offers a variety of local beers, lunch and dinner. Great service and great food for non-touristy prices. Be sure to call ahead and make reservations if you want to have dinner in town anywhere that isn't the snack place. Almost all restaurants have vegetarian options, but vegan options come with more research. Right across from Bij Joost is a water playground, a table tennis table and some wooden games like connect four and Ludo (mens-erger-je-niet). Visit the Bird Information centre if you're here for birdwatching. They sell a huge collection of guides, souvenirs, birdhouses and binoculars (the quality and prices are for true bird fans though) and even have a surprising collection of stuffed birds local to the area to check out. Each Thursday in summer there's a market which offers a lot of second hand goods, but also local foods (cheese, fish, sausage) and clothing. The Plus supermarket is open each day of the week for your regular groceries and budget-friendly snacks.

We liked a lot that it was so easy to check in and check out - no need to come at a specific hour, make a receptionist wait. We just inserted a code and got our key from the box. Our room was more than we expected. Spacious, cozy and clean, even the small details taken into consideration. Like a heated floor (which our cat admired). Pet friendly hotel was one of the most important features for us, as our cat is family. To sum up, me and my husband spent unforgettable weekend at a lovely island in the awesome hotel. Big thanks!

The staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. The facilities are great including the free use of the pool. We ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic as well as being reasonably priced. The buffet breakfast, included with room booking had a great range of quality produce. E-bikes were also available for hire.

Everything was perfect, the hosts were kind, the breakfast was so tasty, the coffee machine a good addition, the decor very sophisticated and the hotel felt 'zen' and a home from home. Thanks Caroline and Marco.
