The reception staff were welcoming and friendly the shared kitchen was modern clean and tidy (it could have done with an extra toaster) having just the one. We were in room 312 which was a little larger than the others having a single bed in it as well but was warm and comfortable.

Very things we needed in the house and the location is fantastic with a large private lot and lots of flowers. The house looks like it was newly renovated.

We enjoyed our stay at the Anchorage very much. The location is wonderful, the apartment spacious and clean and the equipment (kitchen, bathroom) provides everything you need. Would definitely come again!

Wonderful place - will be back. Well fitted out, great environment. Huge room with lots of options built into how different users / groups might use it - from families to friends and solo travellers. Staff were great and so helpful

It is a wonderful lone big house, looks new, on a hill overlooking a lake, beautiful scenery. The owners are very nice. It is a very spacious and quiet. Great fire place with plenty good fire wood. It was a great pleasure staying there. We had all the equipment and appliances that we needed, including washing machine and a dryer. Tips for guests: make sure you arrive there in daylight to make it easier to notice signs leading to the place. Read the owner's instructions and guidance well before arrival, including the WiFi code in case you need to call the owner with WiFi before you enter the house. Please be aware that there are no shops in the vicinity. It is highly recommended to buy your groceries in advance. The only restaurant which is within a reasonably short drive - closes early. The nearest food shop is a 15-20 minutes drive away, doesn't have much stuff and closes early. There is a pub near this shop which closes at about 10pm, to be verified. The kitchen closes much earlier. It is better to learn the area well in advance.

A cosy cabin, very comfortable. Unexpected views down to the river & beach. Great place to explore the Caitlins from. Our hosts Fergus & Mary were brilliant & made us feel very welcome. A very interesting couple to chat to, and a pleasure looking at Fergus's beautiful artwork. We'd be very happy to stay there again.

Great location for exploring the Catlins as Papatowai is fairly central. Tram track cosy cabin is a great place to stop, compact but cosy. Excellent shower and comfy bed. Great to be able to stay with our Border terrier. Dave is very friendly and helpful. The local store is well equipped and the food truck does excellent quality food. Good walks along river, beach or bush all on the doorstep. Highly recommend.

The house was comfortable and perfect for three people. The views are superb, one is able to look right down the coast and watch waves breaking on the cliffs in the distance. Being on a hillside in the middle of fields it was supremely peaceful, the only sounds being sheep and birds. The kitchen was very well equipped. The cafe just down the road was excellent.
