The cabin is situated towards the end of Ranca, so a bit isolated from the rest of the stuff, which was perfect noise wise. The view was beautiful, the beds comfortable, and I had the best garlic potatoes of my life. We only stayed for a night and left early in the morning. The staff was super accomodating.

Review stars cannot express how amazing we felt at Cabana Terra Rânca. Our apartment, on the third floor had vaulted ceilings, large windows, with large beds and sheets immaculately clean and pressed. We did not expect the elegant bathroom with an extra large fancy shower in a cabin at the top of a mountain but there it was. The balcony, had a coffee table and wick chairs and gave us a way to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Parâng Mountains in the morning with a coffee in had. Cabana Terra Rânca has an exquisite and unexpectedly (again) refined restaurant where the food is not only amazing but plated in beautiful arrangements that begged for an Instagram photo. The house wine and house afinata are one-of-a-kind. Every dish they serve is carefully selected and prepared. You can tell the amazing care and attention to detail that the entire staff puts into everything they do. It was truly amazing and refreshing to witness the staff’s warmth, welcoming, positive attitude and the pride they clearly show and demonstrate through their service. So is their attention to details and awareness. We travelled with senior folks and before we had to say anything after walking in the door they suggested that the planned 3rd floor second room we had booked adjacent to ours might not be a good fit for my parents despite the position and the view; it would have been very hard for them, being 80+, to climb the stairs to the third floor. The staff changed their room to a 1st floor, brought more chairs to the room and even lend them house shoes to make them more comfortable. It was really impressive to see the level of care they have shown. This continued for the rest of our stay with everything making us feel truly at home. The resort itself, Rânca is on top of the Parâng mountains with a view that is unique in the world; the Transalpina highway is a man-made wonder in the middle of a nature wonder and felt magical. We only wish we had more time to explore. 🤩🏔️❤️

Quiet resort in the mountains of Gorj county, Romania.

Quiet resort in the mountains of Gorj county, Romania. Not many "attractions" in summer, but if you are after the mountain view and fresh air it is perfect for couple days stay. Farmer market on the way up from Novaci to Rânca (make sure you bring cash, as the shepherds don't take cards- yet. LOL).

Nice place, pretty simple, clean air, quiet (when no motorcyclists around). Not many "attractions" end of August, but as a busy person in a big city I do appreciate a little slow living now and then, to recharge my batteries. Very good food is available in the area. Organic stuff, homemade style.

This resort has potential to become something nice.

This resort has potential to become something nice. Currently there's no ATM here so you'll have some cash at your disposal for places where paying by card is not an option (like skiing hours, equipment rental, paying for parking and guarantee for the ski-lift card) Also I've only identified two supermarkets both are rather small and only one of them accepts credit cards. Parking is rather difficult especially when it's snowing and parking on the side of the road is no longer an option, for the M1 sky track there are only two parking lots that are rather small and one of them is 30Ron/day. For the M3 and sleigh tracks there is a larger parking lot available at 5Ron/h. In what regards food I have tried Tara Ranca and Alessia Restaurant and both offered great services. In what regards skiing and snowboarding lessons I recommend NDY Skiing Center that is located near the M1 track. Also I recommend going from Sunday to Saturday or mid week in order to avoid congestion.

Lots of restaurants and hotels but only one supermarket. One of the greatest roads in the country - Transalpina. The view is breathtaking, the air is clean, the people are friendly. If you travel by car there are a lot of wonderful places to visit in the close proximity (100-150km).

Great place. Very helpful and friendly staff. The room is clean, well-furnished, and has everything you need (even a fridge). The view of Ranca and the Transalpina - worth a million dollars. Breakfasts are very tasty, with a choice from the menu. The restaurant stays open late, offering great dishes. Ample parking. I highly recommend it and will definitely return.

Family owned hotel, amazing and friendly host, good location and breakfast. In the evening we had a lovely dinner in their restaurant. Upon arrival we have been served with complementary local schnapps. Parking for motorcycles just in front of the hotel. Extremely quiet during the night for a good night sleep.

The cabin is situated towards the end of Ranca, so a bit isolated from the rest of the stuff, which was perfect noise wise. The view was beautiful, the beds comfortable, and I had the best garlic potatoes of my life. We only stayed for a night and left early in the morning. The staff was super accomodating.

Excelent placed hotel in the proximity of the ski cables, although we were here in the summer. Our room was spacious, clean and had a balcony with a view to the nearby ski cables and mountain peak. Staff was friendly and kind with us.
