Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. it was totally romantic, we love it, it was close to the main streets, the room was over our spectations, my wife was aided when she need to wear yukata, the personel was lovely and always pay attention to our need, we will come back when returning to Japan

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. The hosts were fabulous, so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast (and dinner) were amazing!

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Can't fault it, everything we wanted from the experience was included. Rooms beautiful (and massive), dinner and especially breakfast were excellent and the public baths were lovely. Staff great. Good location a few minutes walk from main areas as well as station.

Chaya Hotel se nachází pouhých 40 metrů od zrekonstruovaného poštovního města Magome-Juku z doby Edo a nabízí jednoduché tradiční pokoje s futonovou postelí a podlahou tatami. We had a wonderful stay at Magome Chaya! We booked a private double room and messaged them in advance, asking to include meals in our plan (breakfast and dinner). Both were delicious and served on their restaurant across the street. Communication was great from start to end, and they did inform us several times in advance that it's cash payment only - plan accordingly. The rooms are on the second floor, together with shared bathrooms. On the first floor, you have more bathrooms and also the washroom (female and male), a lounge area, a small guest kitchen, and a laundry room. We slept well, and it was quiet during the night - rooms have heaters, so it wasn't cold. The pillow is indeed, as other reviews mention, a bit hard. I slept without it - perhaps if they changed them for a more 'generic' one, it'd please more people ☺️ The minshuku is located at a beautiful spot in Magome, so I'd most definitely recommend this place! Book and plan in advance, as accommodations get full quickly here. Magome is beautiful, and the Nakasendo Trail is an easy one. I highly recommend it for everyone! Thanks for having us 🙏🏻

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Best hotel we’ve been too in Japan, the atmosphere was very nice, the room comfortable and the location is great. The onsen is public but nobody was there when we used it so we enjoyed a private experience.

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. Beautiful hotel and beautiful facilities. Staff was friendly and helpful and great breakfast service.

Boasting open-air hot spring baths looking over the city and heartfelt hospitality, Honjin Hiranoya Annex is ideally located just steps away from popular Takayama Jinya building and its morning... Staying in this ryokan was an amazing experience. The room was clean and beautiful, with the tatami floor and some decorations. In the room is included a kimono and a matcha tea, so you can relax and immerse yourself in the traditional japanese experience. The view from the windows was stunning! with the river, the red bridge and the sakura tree, it seemed like a living painting. In my booking it was included a traditional dinner and breakfast, they were served in a private room with a member of the staff explaining the various dishes. I really liked the dinner, the breakfast was a bit weird for my taste.
