Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. We went as a group and we loved the ryokan. It was very spacious, everything was very clean, and it was conveniently located near the bus station, the train station, and the city center where most of the shopping takes place. The rooms were the most spacious we stayed in throughout Japan, and the staff were all very kind. I would definitely stay here again.

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The staff were so kind and accommodating, and truly tried to go above and beyond for their guests. Every time we came back to the hotel we were greeted with an enthusiastic welcome back and ushered into the warmth and comfort of the reception area. Breakfast was exceptional and beautifully presented. The hotel also arranged for our luggage to be sent to our next destination which was extremely helpful as it meant we didn’t have to worry about storage lockers during our visit to nearby Shirakawa-go. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we’d be beyond delighted to come back.

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. It feels like home, away from home. The breakfast was amazing. The place is very cozy with the warm smile of the people running the place. They have a nice private bath which is a good experience to try. The location is near the morning market and Miyagawa river. Everything is fantastic!

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Amazing place! Food was great, staff were so nice 🙏🙏🙏 Best Value for money in Japan !

Situated at the heart of historic Takayama Old Town and just steps away from Takayama Jinya Morning Market, the traditional Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan offers personalised hospitality, hot spring baths... Excellent service at the center of the city. I forgot sole earbuds in my room and they helped me review of i left them there

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Lovely place and k so much enjoyed my stay

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. Everything is good. The location is central, a short walk to the train station and nohi bus station. We got a top-floor room (just one level below the onsen) with a stunning view. We can use an outdoor private onsen for free (first come, first serve). There's lots of free stuff, i.e., free ramen service at night and free ice cream after dipping at the onsen. The amenities are complete, and they provide pyjamas too. The room size is medium size, adequate to cater to 2 pax with cabin-size luggage. The breakfast is superb—plenty of options, and all good, especially the tofu and french toast. Sadly we only stay for one night. We surely will stay here again when we come back to Takayama.

Boasting open-air hot spring baths looking over the city and heartfelt hospitality, Honjin Hiranoya Annex is ideally located just steps away from popular Takayama Jinya building and its morning... The food and the location were both excellent. The rooftop baths were amazing too.
