The staff was cordial and the collective amenities in the common area were not short than spectacular, from prime coffee-making tools to high-quality beans and teas. The Location was also in a quiet neighboorhood, which wasn't too far away from attractions and stuff.

Opening in March 2014, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei offers accommodations with a modern yet traditional décor. The traditional Japanese ambiance with Onsen is a unique experience. Breakfast offered Japanese menu in addition to the regular breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The staff was great, they helped us deliver the phone my father forgot in the bullet train to the hostel, which at the Lost and Found office told us is going to be very difficult for an accomodation to do. The place is very clean, showers are separated in sort of mini rooms so there is a lot of privacy. There are dyson hair dryers which was unexpected for a 2 star hostel. The beds were comfortable as well. Location is walking distance from the main station and was very practical.

Everything was perfect! The room was much better than the pictures. It was super spacious and the view was great. Excellent shower as well. The staff although they didn’t speak good English they were always there to help us.

Ideally located just a 2-minute walk from lively Nishiki Market and Ponto-cho Street, Matsui Honkan boasts large public baths and chic Japanese-style rooms. We loved everything about staying at Matsui Honkan and look forward to the next time we can visit. The whole property is well taken care of, with beautiful traditional features and peaceful classical music playing throughout. There is a high level of attention to detail with thoughtful touches, such as an origami crane to greet you, pjs to wear, and a special treat for our honeymoon. A true highlight was the incredibly kind and cheerful staff. They make this place truly special! We also loved the onsen, what a gorgeous place and a real treat. Best place we’ve ever stayed!
