Re-opening in July 2014 after a thorough renovation, HOTEL RELIEF Namba Daikokuchou is located in Osaka. Free WiFi access is available. A really surprising place, in a good but not crowded area. Very good reception (tiny but), and great layout with rooms around a void. Pretty good sized room for the price. We were there for three nights and it worked out well for two people. The real surprise is the nicely set out (more than basic) free breakfast that is available (I'm sure I didn't see it advertised when I booked), as well as ICECREAM ALL DAY!! It's a really nicely set up foodie area open all the time. (And yes some free (safe) alcohol at night). Oh yes - location is very good - 500 m. accessible to metro, so really no need for (very expensive) taxi from airport, which takes Osaka's weird above ground great circle route!

Opening in May 2013, Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka-Kitahama is directly connected to Kitahama Subway Station and provides modern guest rooms with free WiFi. The hotel breakfast was delicious and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The bath and dual shower heads were good after a long day out, the water pressure was satisfying. The kitahama station being underneath was super convenient for the cold winter mornings and night trains. It's also a 1 minute walk around the corner from a family mart. Overall, would stay here again when I come back to Japan.
