The tent was completely clean and neat, the staff was very kind, the food was plentiful, the scenery was just astonishing. The team organized a super fun camel ride at nearby moonlight camp. Incredible experience overall Note for people dealing with allergies, skin conditions, or are immunocompromised: we confirm this establishment is adequate, due to its cleanliness and the adaptability of the staff. The water is a little chlorinated, so just bring plenty of fresh filtered water for hygiene.

One of the best experiences in our life. Staff is great and thoughtful, tents are nice, beds are comfortable. The desert is wonderful at the sunset time and at night. It’s so quiet and relaxing there. Wide selection of food for dinner and breakfast, water and snacks in each tent. We drove there on our rental car Chevrolet Tahoe with ease. However at first we met the guy who is providing shuttle service and we followed him on our car. The road is hard pressed rock and sand almost all the way to the camp and then a kilometer of softer sand across the dune. Tahoe was doing absolutely fine there with 4wd and deflated tires. Smaller cars (like Pajero, Prado) are okay I guess but 4wd and high clearance are necessary for the dune and soft sand. So no small city crossovers.

Vyběhnuti na dunu za pomoci žebříku bylo super. Půjčili jsme prkna a jezdili, ale moc to nejezdi. Nevadi. Jídlo skvěle, k večeři grilovaná koza(aspon to tvrdili), ryze, kuře a jine dobrůtky. STAN čistý a pohodlný. Sprcha a koupelna zážitek. Večer oheň a šíša za příplatek. Rano jízda po dunách.

Look no further than Desert Stars for a lovely great value desert trip. It is a comfortable small camp with only 10 tents and really welcoming hosts. Each tent has its own bathroom. There is a nice dining tent with buffet dinner included and a substantial breakfast with eggs and beans stew. We sat around the fire in the evening after dinner and watched the stars. I went on a sunset camel ride which was magical, and had a fantastic half-day safari into the dunes with Ahmed, who is a highly skilled driver and great guide. I saw baby camels, foxes and lizards and ended with a bedu lunch. Communication was smooth with the host by WhatsApp in advance, I arranged a transfer as I had a small car which was also smooth. Highly recommend!

My wife and I began to consider our options as we followed a stranger in a foreign country into the empty desert to stay at a camp we weren’t sure truly existed. Sure, Oman has ridiculously low crime rate, but the possibilities of what awaited us were endless. After a 20 minute drive through bedouin camps and an empty sea of sand we were relieved to find the camp as pictured on the site. However, shortly after setting up for bed, the camp was hit by a storm which was extremely rare to the area. I stood there for 30 minutes holding the pole of the tent from inside, so it didn’t collapse on us, as the rain and wind pattered the canvas. If I could go back in time to the moment we started our journey… I would do it a million times over. Thousand Stars is a passion project started by Ali and his companion, and cared for by a truly honorable and wonderful caretaker - Sadam. It is not a 5 star resort run by a board of trustees with millions of investment dollars. It is 3 men, who put their blood sweat and tears into each and every night. We started the evening off by having tea, coffee and fruits with Ali and discussing life. Shortly after, Ali ensured we were comfortable and left us to be. We were the only couple there that night so we had the whole camp to ourselves. There are usually 2-3 tents available per night. My wife and I spent some time chatting under the moonlight, but called it early as we saw a storm approaching. Sadam was working hard to cover the dining tent with a tarp so that we could be comfortable while eating dinner. The storm came, and yes, there was a short bit of time where I had to hold the tent up but this was no fault of the camp - just nature. Despite the storm, Sadam trekked over to our tent from his to make sure we were ok. Right after the storm ended I heard the roar of a car. It was Ali again, who drove all the way back just to make sure everything was ok.
