I loved the friendliness and helpfulness of the host and his family. He was able to help us arrange transportation to/from the guesthouse and also the safari jeep. The location is very quiet despite being by the main road. It’s located some distance from the safari but still relatively close by. we managed to see the elephant and even a leopard! The room itself was clean and well planned, all the basic amenities were provided for us.

The stay at Corner Cottage was the highlight of our trip. This young couple is welcoming and energetic to create an exceptional yet homey experience for tourists. Make sure you request dinner! Amazing food and with a tuk tuk on site it was so convenient to get a ride to the bus and our own tour!

Great location next to the entrance to wilpattu national park. You can take a nice stroll next to the lake from here as well. The hosts are very inviting and make it feel like a home stay. Dinner is served at the cabin and its decent quality and a reasonable price. Ask for pancakes at breakfast, they are really good.

We checked for Safari in a few hours, and all was arranged quick and swiftly! Safari was good, as we saw a lot of elephants 🐘 Small and cosy place with 3 different rooms, but large rooms with everything you need here. AC, ventilator above the bed, firm mattrass, clean bathroom.

Staying at Sweet Home Tourist Rest turned out to be one of the best decisions we made on our trip to Sri Lanka. It’s rare to find a place that offers both great value and a truly personal touch , but this one does exactly that. Instead of just a room, we had an entire private apartment, including a comfortable living room, which gave us so much space to relax. It was quiet, clean, and located in a peaceful part of town, making it easy to rest and recharge between our adventures. And considering the price, it felt like an absolute steal. What really made this stay unforgettable were the authentic experiences arranged by the hosts. Nilukshan helped us explore some of Sri Lanka’s most iconic sites with thoughtfully organized tours, the Wilpattu safari was stunning, and our visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale gave us a deep appreciation for the country’s culture and history. Everything was well-timed, smooth, and stress-free. We also had the chance to join a Sri Lankan cooking class with Malsha, which ended up being one of our favorite memories. The class was fun, hands-on, and filled with flavor, we left not just with full stomachs, but with recipes and techniques we can take home with us. If you’re looking for more than just a place to sleep, if you want comfort, authenticity, and connection this is the place. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Sunhill Lake Tourist Rest se nachází v atraktivní lokalitě v centru města Anuradhápura a nabízí bezplatné Wi-Fi ve všech prostorách a zahradu. We arrived very late after 1 AM from Colombo via the express bus and the hosts waited for us! Room was spacious and comfortable with hot water and a/c. Breakfast spots were within walking distance. Their house faces the lake with migratory birds and can be a pleasing morning or evening walk. Host managed to arrange a scooter for us at a resonable price, which we took to visit the ancient capital and Mihintale. They have 2 teens and we chat with their daughter about the country, cricket, salaries and inflation. Host wife allowed us to use the kitchen to cut fruits. Host husband dropped us at the bus station on his tuk tuk for the next leg of our journey. I'd say it is a pleasant stay to get to know the locals better.
