I only stayed for one night to be close to Nokogiri Mt. for hiking, but Ken-ken was extremely helpful and generous while I was there. One of my favorite memories from my two week trip to Japan will be my stay in this little town of Hota, much thanks to Ken-ken's hospitality and guidance for places to visit and eat at while I stayed. He recommended the cutest izakaya when I told him I was looking for dinner and a few beers called Rest Inn Wassup! The owner and cook there were so nice, and we had a good time visiting even though we were mostly speaking through Google Translate. Please don't be afraid to visit this little town if you want to see some authentic Japanese small-town life and great hiking. I was able to get around fairly easily, but be aware the public transportation is limited and it can get dark in the neighborhood at night. Rest assured, though, if you stay with Ken-ken, he will make your stay comfortable and worthwhile!

Hillside Inn Sirocco se nachází v destinaci Tatejama a nabízí pokoje s výhledem na moře. Jen 1,9 km odtud je Tateyama Forest of Wild Birds. Lovely accommodation run by a japanese couple. It is not a hotel but more like a B&B. You can have a spacy room and great breakfast just made for you. They don't speak that much english but everything can be solved because of their great friendliness :) There are a few restaurant in walking distance but I think it's good to have a car that you can go to beach shops restaurants etc. They have a nice private outdoor spa which you can book for yourself. I definetly recommended this place.

Everything. Lek’s family is wonderful, I was fortunate to have spent some time in the very beautiful garden while the family was relaxing. Lek’s daughter constructed a sort of terrarium/miniature garden that was really fun to witness. The house is beautifully decorated and quite the treat to stay at. Lek was very accommodating and I could not thank her enough. There is a bus that can take you to the Yotsukaido train station but I had no issue walking to the station as it’s really only one or two turns depending on the route you take. Nearby Chiba has many restaurants, live music, and a large and interesting park by the port (a Native American totem pole near the Chiba port tower that was gifted from a sister port in Oregon, USA) One train straight to Tokyo is available from Yotsukaido or a local train that has a transfer in Chiba (only one platform over). Yotsukaido itself is very peaceful and has great restaurants as well one of which is only a block away from the property.

The house is clean and spacious, with a beautiful river view. Good place for family travel. The café downstairs offered free drinks for us everyday, the owner is very friendly. We really appreciate it!

They were always very helpful and made my stay feel amazing. -The house is possibly one of the most uniquely decorated house in Japan, full of retro memorabilia from cars, comics and movies. The house is an old style Japanese house, so it is a good experience in itself. -The area around is very peaceful -good Wi-Fi speed, I worked remotely there with no issues. There is also aircon in the room, and on clear days you can also see Mt. Fuji. -there are supermarkets close to the station with a big variety of delicious cheap food that you can eat in

Our room was definitely idiosyncratic, with a great mixture of flea-market findings, real and almost antiques, big windows and lots of space. Public areas were also fun, continuing the comfortable, off-beat vibe. A little frayed at the edges, though very clean. Friendly staff.
