Project X Scuba in Semporna is absolutely outstanding! Incredible dives, top quality gear, and a highly professional team that treats you like family from the moment you arrive. The atmosphere is warm, fun, and full of positive vibes, and the rooms are cozy and super comfortable, it’s perfect after an amazing day underwater. Truly a must-visit for anyone who wants unforgettable diving in Semporna !

The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He recommended a great breakfast spot and even shared his favorite place for dinner, which turned out to be fantastic. He also helped arrange transportation to and from Tawau Airport, which made everything so convenient. The room was very clean and quiet. There were a few tiny ants, but honestly, it’s just part of the environment here—it’s already one of the cleanest places. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and I really appreciated having a washing machine and a space to hang clothes. There’s a fire extinguisher in the hallway, and the entrance is secured with two iron gates. The room uses a traditional key lock, and the host is always present at the property, which makes it feel very safe. Downstairs, the roti keju paired with curry sauce and sambal was surprisingly delicious. The food court he recommended had a great variety—loved the smooth draft beer, the light and tasty Hakka tofu, the tender and flavorful lamb satay, and the Singapore-style fried vermicelli was also quite good. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable stay with great local tips and hospitality.

My stay in DZ Backpacker was awsome, the girl at reception is so kind and helpful. The place is clean, quite and well located, 5 min from jetty. I was passing my open water diver license and need a place where to revise elearning, DZ backpacker gave me this opportunity. You can also meet travelers in the common area.They can also arrange tours and transfer to Tawau airport. I recommend this place 100%.

Place is very comfy and clean, staff is friendly, hot water, AC, close to so many good restaurants. Every evening coming from the chaotic Semporna city, it felt like an oasis of comfort and good vibes. Staff helped us book an island hoping tour very last minute and a minivan to airport. We did laundry through a local service provided by them and it came back smelling so nice.

I've never stayed in a more friendly local Hostel. Super clean, loads of space, nice showers, nice bathrooms and best of all - the staff! I got so much help from everyone working here especially the head owner. Everything from helping me out booking the cheapest way of fun diving on the islands (via the hostel, which was at least 70 ringgit cheaper than the six other companies I compared them with down town?? turned out great!) to advise on local places to eat, buying fruit for breakfast, helping me plan my visit in Kinabatangan, sending me my bag all across Sabah when my plans got changed... and was always friendly and available! Crazy good service to me much more worth than what I paid per night for, to be honest. If I'm going back to Semporna, this is where I'll be staying. 🙏🏾
