Place genuinely feels like home - really cozy environment and very hospitable hosts. Felt very welcomed. Plus, location is perfect because it’s close to the airport (which is a big differential given the amount I’d have spent on taxi if I had stayed at another hostel in San Jose’s city center)… and the area is really chill, with a beautiful view of the mountains and good restaurants. Definitely staying there again anytime I find myself in San Jose in the future.

So welcoming and helpful, a true angel!! I didnt use the kitchen but there was everything you needed. the location is super close to the airport and the bed with the fan was comfy to sleep in!

I like the general atmosphere of the place, and I feel like the common spaces are nicely done to create interaction. There is also a working area you can use if you are teleworking for instance. The air conditioning is put on at night which makes it super nice to sleep. Each bed has its own privacy with curtains, a plug to charge your phone and a light. There is a shared bathroom per dorm. I paid extra for breakfast that was prepared by one of the staff. She was adorable, asked me what I would prefer and made me a different thing each morning. If you are staying more than one night, you can use the laundry service as well for some extra dollars. When I arrived, the person that did my check in also told me about all the different activities to do in and around La Fortuna, including three nice free spots like El Salto (rope swing into the river) or the hot springs. The hostel is located 5-10min walk to the city park, has plenty of small shops, markets and restaurants around and has a few parking spots if you are with a car.

Great place for families with kids. We even got invited to the dinner with Juan - the owner of the property, and his wonderful wife and friends. Plus we also got a free excursion in the sorrounding garden where Juan grows mangos, avocados, blackberries and meny other fruits. Absolutely recommend.

Staff was super nice and very helpful with an easy check in and assisting us during our stay, great with our kids! The layout is great with a fun pool and hangout area near the bar and hammocks and benches all over the property to relax. Not very crowded in the off season so we almost had the place to ourselves. Bartender and breakfast staff are so friendly and the food is yummy! Rooms are no-frills but it's a great value so it works. Great location (once you find it) to walk through the town of La Fortuna. Bakery down the street is phenomenal! Poshpacker offers a list of tours you can arrange through them and we loved the safari boat tour.

This was a really nice hostel to stay at, it was really chilled, the rooms and beds were comfortable and the lady and her boyfriend who ran it were really nice. They also had a good kitchen and the outside area was pretty.

The place honestly surprised me in the best way. The staff were insanely helpful — anything I needed, they handled right away and always with a great attitude. I really felt welcomed and taken care of the whole time. Wish more places worked like this. Totally recommend.
