I booked this for a one night stay after a flight that got in late at night as it is located so conveniently close to the airport. However, I ended up being ill that night and the next day and so extended my stay one night. Im so glad I did - as others have said, Katty is an amazing host - she is SO kind and went above and beyond to help me. She looked after me like I was family- bringing me tea in bed, making me soup, giving me medicine etc. and quite literally nursing me back to health. The warm shower was also appreciated, and she brought a fan to my room when I was too hot with a fever. Couldn’t have asked for more - thank you my Costa Rican mama!

I like the general atmosphere of the place, and I feel like the common spaces are nicely done to create interaction. There is also a working area you can use if you are teleworking for instance. The air conditioning is put on at night which makes it super nice to sleep. Each bed has its own privacy with curtains, a plug to charge your phone and a light. There is a shared bathroom per dorm. I paid extra for breakfast that was prepared by one of the staff. She was adorable, asked me what I would prefer and made me a different thing each morning. If you are staying more than one night, you can use the laundry service as well for some extra dollars. When I arrived, the person that did my check in also told me about all the different activities to do in and around La Fortuna, including three nice free spots like El Salto (rope swing into the river) or the hot springs. The hostel is located 5-10min walk to the city park, has plenty of small shops, markets and restaurants around and has a few parking spots if you are with a car.

Great place for families with kids. We even got invited to the dinner with Juan - the owner of the property, and his wonderful wife and friends. Plus we also got a free excursion in the sorrounding garden where Juan grows mangos, avocados, blackberries and meny other fruits. Absolutely recommend.

Almost everything. Extended thrice during my stay. I slept like a baby. Personal fans in every bed and my bed itself was really comfortable. The staff is some of the sweetest and most helpful I've had in central America. Nice, well equipped, large kitchen. There's a TT table for those who play. All the common areas being in one place ensures that it's pretty social but not in a loud way. Very easy to make friends and talk to people, find others to plan activities together etc.

He gave lots of great recommendations for several activities and does not want to sell tours like lots of others. Just perfect!!! This made our trip perfect and I highly recommend the hostel for everyone who goes to La Fortuna. The rooms were clean and we had a nice balkony to sit outside. It is a great hostel to get to know others.
