Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

If you are looking for rest, this is the perfect place. In his hostel, Jiro San offers decent places, games rooms, a very well-equipped kitchen, as well as a sauna hand made by the owner. You can even share a meal with your host if you offer ☺️

Youth Hostel WANIHAMA-Beach side Lake BIWA se nachází v destinaci Ocu a nabízí ubytování u pláže, zahradu a bar. Jen 15 km odtud je Chrám Sanzenin. We got a room with its own toilet and bathroom for a great price. Traditional tatami style room makes it feel very humble and homely. The staff was very friendly and accommodating - they drove us to the station very early in the morning.

GUEST HOUSE NAGORIYA se nachází v destinaci Hikone a poskytuje ubytování s barem a neplaceným soukromým parkovištěm. Hrad Hikone je 1,7 km daleko. Quirky cafe/guesthouse with a very relaxed atmosphere and very friendly owner (who speaks English and is well-traveled). Stayed here for a few days to shelter from the rain and it felt really homely. Spacious rooms, good facilities.

GYPSY TAKASHIMA se nachází v destinaci Katsuno a má kola zdarma, zahradu, sdílený lounge a terasu. Amazing value for a big room in a comfortable, hostel-style accommodation. Takashima is a very quiet and beautiful town on the lake, and this is the perfect place to stay. Highly recommended!!

We loved how accomodating and nice the staff were they were always making sure the space/ our room was tidy and neat and provided us with fresh linen, towels and robes daily. They cooked us meals and treated us like family! The location is beautiful right on the lake with amazing sunrises and sunsets and just a short 10 minuet walk to the station or a 15 minuet walk to 711. We honestly can’t fault anything about this property and can’t wait to stay again!
