I ended up here after a really bad experience at one of the other hostels in Sigiriya. The staff were simply awesome. I arrived early and they made an extra efford to prepare the room for me, they helped me with finally obtaining the right converter, the bed I would take home if it was possible and the breakfast was great. Only check twice if the breakfast is still included in the price of the room. When I was there it wasn't. But it's still available at a very good price and it is delicious. All in all, I deeply recommend the place. And did I mention that the location is simply fabolous? And there are several good restaurants in the vicinity.

If you’re looking for a sense of luxury at a budget price point, this is a great place to stay while it’s still being developed. The location is excellent, the property and rooms are beautiful, and the owners are incredibly kind and attentive. While they are not always on site, they are consistently prompt and responsive to any questions. Do keep in mind that this is a jungle setting. If you are very uncomfortable with insects or wildlife, this may not be the right fit — or you may prefer a higher-end property designed to be more sealed from the surrounding environment. It’s also worth noting that Wi-Fi can be spotty depending on where you are on the property, and mobile signal does not reliably reach the area. This means you are quite disconnected, which some guests will love and others may find challenging. The staff went above and beyond to help in this regard — they even relocated the router to my dorm, which I happened to have to myself. Overall, a beautiful and memorable stay with great hospitality.

I don’t usually give full ratings, but this hostel absolutely deserves it. The family managing the place is so kind and welcoming. Beautiful and quiet location surrounded by nature, excellent service, meals prepared upon request, and very fair prices. A wonderful experience I truly recommend!

This was such a wonderful place to stay. Very clean, and above all, the people are amazing. Kani is extremely friendly and kind. He did so many things for me!! I also admire his way of thinking—he truly values encounters and connections with people. You can see it not only in his words, but also in his actions. Thank you for the precious experience in Sigiriya!! Highly recommended!!! Some people may think it’s a bit far from Sigiriya Rock, but actually the entrance is on the west side, and I believe this is one of the few places within walking distance around there.

We had an amazing stay at Funk Bunk in Sigiriya! The manager, Nishan, was super friendly and such a great guy. Our TukTuk driver, Samith, was always cheerful and full of positive energy. The food was absolutely delicious — especially the kotthu they prepared for us on the second night, with an incredible sauce! The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Unfortunately, some monkeys damaged the roof of our first room, and it started raining inside, but Nishan immediately took care of it, helped us move to another room, and even offered us a small discount. Everything was handled so quickly and kindly. Funk Bunk is truly a hidden gem with wonderful people! The famous Pidurangala and Lion Rock are close by and they offer to drive you there by tuktuk early in the morning for sunrise or in the evening for sunset. We would definetely recommend to stay at Funk Bunk Sigiriya!
