Yet a twelve minute scenic drive through Conway National Park gets you to the seaside township of Airlie Beach (island boat day-trip departures, boutiques, spa salons, gyms, Saturday markets, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets), hire a car (recommended), or walk down the road to the local bus, or island transfer ferries. Arrive in the region via Proserpine Whitsunday Coast Airport, or Hamilton Island and take a ferry to the mainland. View sunrise across the water, stroll to the end of the street for a meandering bushwalk to a coral fringed beach. Spend dusk on the deck, watch the brilliance of stars appear. Thrillingly, in season, whales can be viewed frolicking in the Bay, the only sound the gentle lap of waves - this tranquil setting is a nature lover's paradise.
