Set on the traditional lands of the Dhurga people the property began with a guesthouse in the late 1800s, when the Ellmoos family from Denmark built their bright red timber cottages by the water and became known for their warm Danish hospitality. Many of those touches — the open space, peaceful surroundings, and sense of welcome — are still part of the experience today. It is from this settlement that the town of Sussex Inlet seen across the river began. We hope every guest feels welcome, relaxed, and connected — whether through our cosy decor, the natural surroundings, or simply the peaceful atmosphere that makes this place so loved.

We’re tucked away in nature inside beautiful Booderee National Park, offering a peaceful retreat while still being close to everything you may need. Vincentia is just a 25-minute drive away and has Woolworths, petrol stations, chemists, and plenty of essential shops. Across the water in Sussex Inlet, you’ll find a great mix of restaurants, cafés, and relaxed coastal takeaway spots. The trip across does take around an hour by road — unless you happen to have a kayak to paddle straight across!

With full transparency, we’d like to mention a few IMPORTANT details about access and the property: - Once you enter Booderee National Park, there is approximately 20 minutes of gravel road leading to the guesthouses. It is accessible for small cars, but we recommend driving slowly and keeping an eye out for potholes. - Christian’s Minde is currently undergoing restoration to bring this historic property back to its former glory. There may be some construction during your stay, though we do our best to keep noise to a minimum and within reasonable hours. Park Entry Fee: As we are located inside Booderee National Park, there is a park entry fee of which allows access to the park, beaches, and facilities. You can pay online in advance or at the gate on arrival. If you’re comfortable with these factors, we’d love to host you.
