La Gringa Carioca, originally La Gringa, was opened in 1991 and is considered the first true Bed & Breakfast in the town of Futaleufu. The property is located just on the southern edge of town, a few blocks away from the main square and commercial center of Futaleufu. Nevertheless, one has the sensation that one is in the countryside, as the property overlooks the Rio Espolon and has a wonderful 360o. view of the majestic Los Andes mountain chain. Built on a 3000m2 property, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy your stay, on a sunny or rainy day, La Gringa Carioca welcomes guests and invites them to enjoy a cozy atmosphere with all the benefits of simple living. This year we will be renting out our entire property to families &/or groups of friends who want to share a common experience & enjoy travel time together. Our minimum stay is three nights and this season, exceptionally, we will permit the use of kitchen for cooking by our guests & will provide all necessary kitchenware. We have also built a studio for yoga practice, massage & Reiki sessions which can be previously arranged with your hostess, at an additional charge.

After having spent much of my life traveling from one place to the other, I finally -momentarily-settled down in the quaint Andean town of Futaleufu in the year 2005. Along with my 10 year old daughter & two four legged angels, we enjoy the benefits of simple, safe & quiet living far away from urban chaos (although we do escape on occasion to visit family!). La Gringa Carioca is a long time dream which is constantly being built upon, and its main focus is to provide the experience each guest wants to enjoy.

Futaleufu cannot really yet be divided into "neighborhoods" as the town is still quite small. However, the urban area, where La Gringa Carioca is located, is but a few blocks from the town square, from the main mini-markets and hardware stores. It is a quiet part of town, although when in Futa, one must keep in mind that there are still remnants of country-side living. Which means dogs will bark and roosters will crow at odd hours....and this is part of disconnecting from urban chaotic noise and coming back to natural sounds. Even if only for a short period.
