We enjoy welcoming guests to 53Bou to share the delights of the region, and to help them relax and recover from the stresses and strains of a more urban lifestyle. Time seems to stand still here, as it has for centuries. It's always a pleasure to meet new people - French, English, Spanish, German, etc. - and to watch the relaxation settle in, and to get feedback about the local restaurants, which are excellent and good value.

This delightful farmhouse, set in the foothills of the Pyrenees near Lannemezan, is ideal for holidays involving walking, cycling, touring, skiing, flora and fauna-spotting, just relaxing of course, sampling the excellent local restaurants, and browsing the markets. We boast modern bathrooms and shower rooms, modern electrics, full central heating, and free wifi, internet and SKY TV. Informace o okolí
Uglas is a small quiet village along the D129, with a population just under 300 souls. 53Bou is possibly the largest and oldest house in the village, at the southern edge, about a mile from the church and the Mairie. Most of Uglas is farmland, with good views of the Pyrenees, and local protected wildlife (there's a stork's nest nearby!)
Nearby ski resorts include Val-Louron (59 minutes down the D939 and D25), Le Mourtis (59 minutes south-east on the D26) and Saint-Lary-Soulon (1hr 10mins using the D929 and D123). The spectacular Pic du Midi de Bigorre is a must-see. The observatory there is only 38 miles from Uglas, reached by cable-car from La Mongie, or on foot from a point higher up the D918.
A visit to the Aran wildlife park above Bossost makes a good day out, 36 miles down the N230 (on part of the route of the Tour de France, so expect spectacular views), and Bossost village provides cheap cigarettes and petrol. The Ostau Dera Nheu Spanish restaurant is worth a visit too - try the fish soup, the paella, the lamb, . . .
Wednesday is market day in nearby Lannemezan. For bargain-hunters there are markets, flea markets and recycling shops in all the adjacent towns as well.
