The gîte « Les Glycines » was built sometime in the late 1700s and shares a large, secluded courtyard with the owners' house, built in 1910. The courtyard benefits in summer from the shade of a wisteria, planted in the 1960s by the previous owners - (who were winegrowers). There are several spots where we let the sun through, though! In winter there are no leaves on the wisteria and the sun does what it likes. Round about Easter, it is covered with aromatic flowers! The house consists of: Ground floor: A good-sized lounge with full double sofabed, armchairs and additional sofa, TV and DVD player. A large kitchen-diner easily able to seat six with room to spare. First floor: 1 double bedroom. 1 twin bedroom. The bedroom windows look out over the courtyard. 1 bathroom with shower, WC and washbasin. Double glazed throughout. Full central heating (included in the price)

The nearby town of Thuir, with its squares, fountains, restaurants, banks and shops – and not forgetting the famous Caves Byrrh which boast the world’s biggest oak wine vat – is only a 20 minute walk away. Perpignan, ancient Catalan capital of the kings of Majorca, is just 20 minutes by car. But Llupia, with its local shops (traditional bakery, charcuterie, pharmacy and café-tabac) remains tranquil. What could be better than to relax under the wisteria in the evening, after a barbecue, glass of wine in your hand, and to reflect on the activities of the day? All our guests adore it! In low season you'll appreciate the double glazing and central heating (an eco-friendly biomass system via radiators, controlled by thermostats) - heating costs are included in the price. Hiking in the mountains or along the Côte Vermeille, visiting Collioure, Elne or the Salvador Dali museum in Figueres, exploring the Cathar castles, water sports, wine-tasting, golf, tennis, horse riding… everything is possible without driving more than half an hour.
