We like how the property had character for the building and we liked that it had a private door leading on to the courtyard. The breakfast was sensational and the owners couldn’t do enough for you. Literally a 10 second walk to anywhere ,...

Shaun and Paula have been married for over 30 years and have been running Ashdale Guesthouse since January 2016 along with their son Josh. Before this Paula worked full time for a company that provided care and support staff, to vulnerable Adults and Children, and Josh was a support worker and teaching assistant at one of the schools. Shaun worked in Media, but since January 2017 has worked full time at the business. Since July 2016 we have held a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating.

Property information

Ashdale Guesthouse is a family run business. The property was built in 1847, is early Victorian, built in the Georgian style in the centre of the village of Matlock Bath which was built as a spa. There are still some natural thermal springs and a petrifying well. We have four en-suite rooms. On the first floor, two spacious family rooms, and also a small double room to the rear. On the ground floor there is also a spacious King sized room with ensuite shower room with its own access to the rear courtyard. All bedrooms have been renovated between October 2016 and March 2022 and the reception hall was completed Christmas 2017. We have 3 stars (Visit Briton Quality Assurance) and a Breakfast Award from Visit England. We are the only Guesthouse in Matlock Bath that has onsite parking available for all guests with average sized cars.
