Held in The Square, it’s a vibrant spot where you can pick up everything from local fruit and vegetables to artisan goods. Famous for its steep cobbled street, Gold Hill offers picturesque views and is renowned for its appearance in the iconic Hovis bread advert. Just a short walk from the cottage, it’s one of the most photographed spots in the UK. Located at the top of Gold Hill, is a volunteer-run museum offers fascinating exhibits on the history of Shaftesbury and the surrounding area. Shaftesbury Abbey Museum & Gardens is a truly fascinating visit, take time to explore the ruins of a 9th-century abbey and its beautifully restored gardens, offering a peaceful retreat and insight into Shaftesbury's rich history.
