Grooms Cottage is a beautifully renovated, semi detached, one story building in a secluded location close to some of the best amenities Dorset has to offer. In addition to being very well appointed for your stay it is also very accessible with wheelchair friendly wide doors and rooms and a large wet room. We are located in a tiny hamlet a few miles from the historic town of Wareham very near Monkey world and the Tank museum and only 20 minutes from some of Dorset's iconic beaches.

We are a professional couple with grown up children. We have lived in Dorset for over 20 years. We love the outdoor life and keep chickens, turkeys and a few sheep as well as growing most of our own vegetables. We moved to our current home for the seclusion and proximity to nature and wildlife. We spend a lot of time watching the deer and a wide variety of birds that are regular visitors here. As well as our own home we have several cottages that we let in our grounds which was originally a working farm.

Set in woodland close to the river Piddle the hamlet of Hyde feels off the beaten track but is only 4 miles from the historic market town of Wareham and 8 miles from the nearest beaches and the county town of Dorchester. To explore the area fully you will need a car or be very enthusiastic cyclists but it is well worth the effort! The beautiful Isle of Purbeck and Dorset's amazing Jurassic coastline are a short drive away. Amazing walks await you including the iconic Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door or maybe go fossil hunting at Kimmeridge or Charmouth. We are surrounded by wildlife with Deer, badgers, barn owls and buzzards regular visitors. We also have some of our own with a flock of hens and some rare breed Soay sheep. Water is part of the natural beauty of the area but children must be supervised at all times.
