Our home is an ancient Grade II & Doomsday listed farmhouse set in the countryside which is just 10 mins drive from Ilfracombe & 15 mins from Woolacombe Beach - perfect for outdoorsy folks and families looking for a peaceful escape in the countryside with adventure on your doorstep. We are set up on a hill with far-reaching views across North Devon and even out to Dartmoor just outside the pretty countryside village of West Down, accessible by a small bumpy country lane. Once a working farm, the property is now a small livery yard where my family and I live and work. Our nearest neighbours are about 400m away. Enjoy the sounds of the countryside - We have horses (who we are happy to introduce guests to), 2 dogs & a cat plus birdsong from the nesting House Martins! The yard comes alive from 6 or 7am, so bear this in mind if you're not early risers. The house is ancient and quirky with low ceilings and doorways, cold slate floors - bring slippers! Heating isn't included which the price reflects, but we do have a wood burner which you are welcome to use, we provide one set of logs and kindling, further bundles are available for a small fee but notice is required for us to prepare this for you. The large farmhouse is split in two and my parents live in the other half. There is a large garden at the back which guests are welcome to use - it isn't dog proof though! We also usually have at least one field that isn't in use for horses where guests are welcome to walk their dogs.

Whilst we are set in the sticks, we are just 15 minutes drive from Woolacombe, an award-winning golden sandy beach and 20 mins from famed surf spot, Croyde Bay and many other beautiful beaches and bays along the North Devon coast. The village of West Down is approximately 1 mile away by road and also just a 10 minute walk across the country footpaths. The quaint village has a Community Shop run by volunteers stocking all essentials and some lovely local produce too. There are two pubs, The Crown Inn in the centre of the village, a proper little country pub with a pretty beer garden and The Woodpecker is just out of the main village on the main road. Ilfracombe is a small Victorian coastal town, just 10 mins away with a beautiful harbour which is also home to Damian Hirst's enormous 'Verity' statue. A great spot for grabbing some fish and chips and Devon ice cream to watch the world go by. This is a walkers' paradise! We have the South West Coast Path and Exmoor National Park a short drive away, plus endless countryside footpaths to explore right outside our door. On soggy days, there are plenty of attractions in the surrounding towns to keep little ones entertained too.
