The incredibly beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park has many lochside, lowland and hill walks just a short distance away, including Scotland’s most southerly Munro. Sports include golf, sailing, fishing, windsurfing, cycling and horse riding, and cruises around the loch and its many islands are available. Duncryne Hill is nearby and provides one of the best 360-degree views in Scotland and a spectacular panorama of Loch Lomond. A RSPB centre and a nature conservancy area is a short distance away, where a large variety of wildlife may be seen, including deer, ducks, geese, herons, raptors and swans. There is also a RSBV centre available. Local visits include distilleries and an aquarium. The numerous attractions in Glasgow and Stirling are within 40 minutes’ drive, or the former can be easily reached by train from Balloch, 6 miles away.
