We are not strangers to Yorkshire as we have lived in Leeds and Driffield but have moved around a little too, Bucharest for 6 years and the Scottish Borders for 12 years where we lived in a fairy-tale castle.
Property information
Tall Storeys is a lovely Grade II listed Regency style town house. Situated in the old part of the town and is overlooked by the castle battlements. It has seven rooms, some of which have stunning sea views. Close to the harbour, beach an centre.
Neighbourhood information
Scarborough’s rich maritime heritage revolves around the Old Town. This comprises the area around the harbour and on the castle hill. The Old Town extends as far as Friargate and Scarborough’s Market Hall. It traditionally ends at the top of the hill at St Mary’s church.
This small area is where the fishermen’s cottages, quay side and ship yards were all situated. – Seamen and their families lived in streets such as Longwestgate, Princess Street, and down Sandgate. In the ancient past this was Scarborough. The town has expanded northwards towards Peasholm and southwards towards the Esplanade. Scarborough’s Old Town is still seen as a geographical entity especially by the people who live there. It’s known as the Bottom End and the people who live there are known as Bottomenders.
So living in Longwestgate we have the quirky houses and so central to all the facilities that Scarborough has to offer. Stephen Joseph Theatre, Peasholm Park, Beach, Harbour, Shopping Centre, Castle and St Mary's Church to name but a few. Oh don't forget some wonderful restaurants and bars.
