Built in 1911, The Lilac Door is situated in West Dulwich, a leafy pleasant part of London, just 12 minutes to the centre by very frequent train. We've lived here for 30 years and whilst the external part of The Lilac Door is still Edwardian we have upgraded every internal part to make it relaxed and welcoming for our guests. View our on line presence for full details of every room. In every room there's a well stocked tea / coffee tray, delicious biscuits, bottled water, waffle robe and slippers and on arrival, you'll find a pampering carton of chocolate truffles on your bed. At breakfast, we provide a wide selection from traditional English, to French Toast! Nearby are a variety of places to eat, parks to walk and the famous Dulwich Picture Gallery to admire. With bookshops, specialised delis and vintners and a whole variety of independent shops within easy walking distance and with great connections to Central London, Dulwich is an ideal base for a City visit.
I'm Jane. I've managed to fit in several careers along the way; television coordinator, event fundraiser for major charities, photographic stylist for magazines, event manager for countless private parties, teacher of English as a Foreign language. I still organise large parties ~ its challenging coming up with something that's "different" for clients; its exhausting but its always fun (well that's what I feel after the last table has been cleared) I enjoy ballroom dancing ~ a complete amateur who loves to rhumba when I can and I have a huge weakness for pearls! I am married to a keen cyclist and we have two grown up daughters.
Leafy West Dulwich, just 12 minutes by train to Victoria, is home to the famous Dulwich Picture Gallery. There's a wealth of independent shops, relaxed dining and wonderful walks in pleasant parks all within easy reach. There's a vibrant food market on Sundays and Brixton provides the hub of eclectic destination dining. A golf course, horse riding, Lido and tennis are all available, nearby. Our guests tell us time and again that Dulwich is so peaceful, yet so close to all that the centre of London has to offer.
