Hi, my name is Rocky , I have been looking after the 4 properties on the Ranch for 7 years now and I want to wish you a very warm welcome to Windsor Farm House page. I would not want to live anywhere else as the views and peacefulness are unsurpassed in the Lake District. Hosting now since May 2019. This is a very peaceful World Heritage valley and respect for others and nature is vital. The Farm House is in two halves , this property is the family home and part of the year half of it reverts back to our family home. We love to share the absolutely stunning views and peace with our guests and hope they will respect and look after our home with care. Please take into consideration this is a 400 year old house and has been added to over the years, it has low beams , very thick stone walls and has all the issues that old properties have. We hope you will appreciate the fact that this is not a modern insulated perfect build house , but a house with character and history. We want you to have a wonderful time in our home and respect it and leave it as you find it. We can provide daily rental of Paddleboards and floatation Jackets for those who wish to try this sport on Wastwater Lake just a very short drive away and in view from the house. We love Horses here and we are a Pure Spanish Horse Breeding Stud Farm and with notice can arrange short or longer rides around the valley or in our arenas. Welcome to the Big "W" Horse Ranch our bit of heaven here in Wasdale . If you don't say "Wow" when you arrive and see the view from the Farm House then you will be the first ! We enjoy sharing our bit of heaven with you all and live on the farm site in person or you can contact by phone to assist you with anything you may require. Windsor Farm House is set on the mountainside with Scafell in in view from the house and a short drive to the car park for the walk to the summit. Only 5km to the quiet pristine sandy beaches on the Irish Sea. We are a Pure Race Spanish Horse Stud here at the Ranch and we have a few Alpacas from Peru along with some Highland Cattle . We offer a historic 17th century house parts of which were built around 1640 . This is a peaceful natural place , We have No smoking or vaping rules that are strictly upheld. NO DOGS or pets allowed (including Service Dogs ) as this is an ALLERGY free house. IMPORTANT NOTES : Absolutely no parties or excessive drinking . No loud music and Quiet time after 10pm. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK IF YOU INTEND TO BE LOUD AND DRINKING A LOT. The garden is not suitable for unsupervised children as it has some steep drops and unguarded terraces. A stunning setting, amazing views and a homely atmosphere. The Hot Tub is inside a glass conservatory with astounding views of the whole valley for all weather use, it may not be available the first day as it needs to heat up fully from a full clean and refill before you arrive . We also provide EV charging for Tesla and other makes on 7kw and 3kw plugs. (Must be booked in advance and you are charged for your use. We hope to see you here soon. We now provide a Tassimo Coffee maker so if you have your favourite blend bring along your pods. A Log fire is available but you must supply your own wood and lighters.

A very warm welcome to Windsor Farm House set here on the amazing “Big W Ranch” set high in the World Heritage Wasdale Valley. The Ranch is home to over 20 horses with high quality stables with both indoor and outdoor arenas for training the horses. We have both Western and English trained horses and we rear foals from birth to Showjumping, dressage and eventing standards. We specialise in High mountain Western trail riding and many of our horses are used to climbing to the summits and high passes in the Wasdale Valley. This is cowboy country ! The historic site of Windsor Farm was first built probably over a thousand years ago ( a two thousand year old Roman Fort is just over the mountain in front) with the present house being constructed in 1640, with the original beams still used in the front upstairs rooms. The house has been added to over the next 380+ years with the latest additions being finished in 2020. Guests will come here to access the most dramatic areas of the World Heritage Lake District , Wasdale is renowned for having the Highest mountain , the deepest Lake , the smallest Church and was voted the most beautiful view in England. We have some great local inns to eat and drink, just a short 2 minute drive down the valley. the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is a short drive away and the beaches at Seascale and Drigg have miles of golden sands and are quiet and natural. Windsor Farm House is set on the mountainside overlooking the Mountains of Whinrigg and Ilgill Head and down to Wastwater lake ( dont forget to hire a Paddle Board ! ) a short 5 minute drive away.
